Connecting To Wrong Ftp Address

Recommended Posts

Okay, I don't know whether this has happened to anyone else before, but this is the second time for me. When I try to connect to my FTP account, it usually connects correctly, except for those few times when my firewall tells me that my FTP program is trying to connect to an FTP account of a different Xisto-hosted site. (Naturally, I don't even want to let that through my firewall, as it's not my site in the first place.)This is just odd as I did not make any changes whatsoever to my FTP settings, so there is no reason for it to suddenly "feel" like connecting to another site for a while. (It switched back the next day to connecting to my site the first time, so I'm assuming it'll do the same this time.)While I can manage with cPanel's File Manager for a day, I just want to know why this is happening. It really can be an inconvenience at times.Serena

Could you possibly take some screenshots of your FTP program and then upload them on Imagefilz.com and post them here so I can have a look?Hopefully we can get this solved for you ;)

Exactly.

yourname.astahost.com might work as well. The username and password are the same as for cPanel access.

@Mark420: I don't have a screenshot of when the problem occurred, but here's a screenshot of a /normal/ connection, if that helps. Last time when the problem occurred, it was trying to connect to leafbunk.astahost.com.

@yordan: Yep, I connect using ftp.yourname.astahost.com.

@pyost: I didn't know that. When I encounter this problem next time, I'll try that. =)

Thanks.

Serena

OK, now I see. You have "sygate personnal firewall" settings problem. Next time you will see your firewall asking you "Do you want to allow this accessing the network ?", click the "remember my answer" box before clicking to "yes".

I guess that, like all standard firewalls, yours ask the question during a small laps of time, and then says "no" until next time, so if you try to access during this "no" period you are evicted. ;)

Else, your way of connecting is quite correct.

Yordan

If you are talking about ftp to your Xisto account, you have nothing special to do. As soon as you start being hosted, your website is something like yourname.astahost.com . Just verify that you can reach your cpanel using your Xisto account login and your Xisto password. Then, at the same moment, ftp will be enabled from ftp.yourname.astahost.com with the same password as for your cpanel login. Hope this helped. Yordan
