Windows Vista What do you think about it ?

Recommended Posts

As some of you must know, Microsoft Will Realease a new type of Windows, Windows Vista, i'm not sure if the pack that i've installed in my computer is a "really demonstration" of Windows Vista Final Graphical aspects, but i'm sure that if this new windows is equal to my "pack" it will change the way that we look to our computer. Now in the funcional aspects i dont know much , but it seem that will be a little more stable that our Windos XP versions. cheers B)

I wish I could have my hands on the beta version for Windows Vista. Most of us are still waiting for it to come out as a public release.I'm sure some things have improved since Windows XP. Saw some screenshots in PC Magazine and it looks like a whole new way of navigating the beast now.It was mentioned that there may be other things missing from the Beta version that will come out (eventually) on the stable release. The new HPFS file system for one didn't get out on the beta testing OS yet. It should be "better" and more stable. But only time will tell.

Windows Vista is definitely going to be the next stable version from Microsoft and so i would definitely be ready for a couple of updates, and even though it looks real cool it is going to be double the resource hog that xp is/was just to run its features like live icons. With the minimum requirements needed the average home user will have to do alot of upgrades before running vista because i know a few "old school" users still running xp of 128 mbs of ram :S......

I wish Vista will be more secure than Win Xp. I know win Xp is pretty secure but still I want it to be like Linux but I don't think it's ever going to happen , but if it will. Windows will be the best OS's in the world.:PB)

Windows will be the best OS in the world - for people who like it, and normally use it. People who normaly use example MAC, dont think they like windows so good. But I mean Windows is the best anyway, and they have the best design. But it is one thing I like better with MAC, no viruses or spyware..I haven't tried the beta of vista, but I have seen many screenshots and heard some words about it, and it looks awesome! B)

what max bitt said would be a disgrace to the Linux community. One of the points Linux is successful is because it's ISN'T like Windows, why would anyone what to be Windows and be crash prone. Windows will never be the "best" OS, because Microsoft usually make the software "beautiful" before it makes it "secure and useful"Anyways, I won't be getting Vista, because it looks like Windows XP on steroids and it's just using the same mainframe. I'm already fed up w/ Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage!xboxrulz

I'm not quit sure that windows is the best OS in the world, but what I'm sure about is that Windows is something that you have cause it's standard over the most of the world, not cause it's the best.

I still look foreward to an more userfriendly version of Linux, as I still think that it have an great potential, and the best of it all it's free.

Windows just cost a lot of money, and that is the reason for the most of windows users have an pirated version of it. If it was a little cheaper it would might take the possision as a champ.

Cheers,

Jens

I agree with you very much on this point. Windows is so universal that most schools, homes and offices are running on it. People simply cannot or don't want to switch to other Operating Systems. Given a user-friendly and better OS, I would definitely switch if possible. It has happened to web browsers (IE to Firefox), it should happen to OSes too.

I've seen the beta (my uncle has MSDN), and I can tell you, it is much faster, and supposidly more reliable than Windows XP. What your might realize is that all of the graphical improvements are supposed to be coming in Beta 2, not Beta 1, for users who like to see the changes, Beta 1 was probally pretty boring. Beta 2 is where windows will get its improved UI.I'd switch linux, but I can't seperate from all the windows software.so I decided to use both (dual boot)

Mac OS X might be more userfriendly, but as far I know does it still helps much if you haven't an Mac PC, but if it should happen that it should be possible to run it on an Intel machine, I would think that it would be worth a try.

Cheers!

Jens

jcguy, Mac OS X is more user friendlier than Windows, why don't you try it B)

Happy computing!

I too have seen a little of Vista, (a friend is a tester), and from what I swaw, it is much better than XP. If it is more stable he couldn't really say, but I would imagine that it will be, with the amount of people now willing to run Linux, Microsft must be aware that the new O.S. must be very stable.

What? There's going to be a new windows system? Wow, Bill Gates is outdoing himself with Microsoft! Can someone please point me to a basic explanation of it so I can found out it's more features? Thanks..I hope it's good!

Shadow X, this announcement of a new Windoze have been made 2 years ago starting out w/ Longhorn. Windows is simply still not as stable as Linux unless they copied somethings from the open sourced system's sourcecodes to do it. Vista still doesn't contain a chroot jail counterpart or a SELinux counterpart which doesn't allow any applications or service to activate any maliculous codes.

It maybe faster, but I guarantee it's not faster than SkyOS.

Windows has been working on ease of use and security for the past 20 years, but the only thing they achieve was ease of use. Mac has already done that 10-15 years ago. Linux and UNIX have already finished the security part 20-30 years ago.

Windows is seriously NOT a great system to use. Close source systems are never as good as the open source counterpart.
