Gmail With Msn Messenger: Is It Legal ? Not sure if it is legal

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes...I saw lately that a lot of ppl use their gmail accounts for msn messenger, however I read the policy of gmail and what I understood was that it is not legal to use other clients, such as msn and all. So my question is this: is it legal to use gmail accounts for msn messenger? And if there are limitations, what are those?

Nope not legal ( af far as gmail's policy is concerned )But there is a way around. And more and more people keep using their custom mail ID to sign in with msn messenger. Since google says not to use their id in any other messaging service, msn provides a service that can enable someone to use his Mail Id to sign in tru msn messenger.Hell, i can make an ID : dhanesh@Xisto.com, but then hotmails asks to verify it and since u dunt verify u wont be able to change ur nick :DIf anyone here gives the GO, i could explain on how you could use ur gmail id to sign in through msn messenger.Cheers

No one needs to use theeir Gmail addresses on MSN anymore, Google have released Google Talk!There's a thread about it in What's New, it's quit interesting.

its legal, there giving away ftp or watever and MSN users can use it with DNS there for its LEGAL

I supposed you are not really using your GMail account on MSN Messenger (or Windows Live Messenger). Rather, you are using the Gmail email address to sign up to a .NET Passport (now called Windows Live ID), and using that ID you are accessing the Messenger IM network run by Microsoft.

Google Talk!

I've tried gTalk with Miranda and to my surprise gTalk does not support offline messages. I for instance value those highly, as most of my friends live in different time zones and it is quite hard to catch them online. Is it hard to implement such feature? I always keep my IM software on, so the need for me to launch an e-mail programme to send my friend a one-sentence message seems a waste of time.

Google Talk doesn't support offline message is because I believe offline messaging was never in the XMPP protocol (Jabber) which Google Talk uses.xboxrulz

I do believe gtalk does support offline messages as I have sent quite a few to people who were not online and they have received them. I wouldn't mind them updating Gtalk to have invisibility like they do through the email though, better yet how about updating gtalk altogether it could use a face lift.

I don't use Google Talk because none of my friends use GMail.As for using GMail on Windows Live Messenger, I think that it is acceptable to use the address to sign up for a Windows Live ID then use that to sign into Windows Live Messenger. Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the Terms and Conditions, which I will have to go through again.

Do you think you could possibly email me the details? I'd very much appreciate it man. I have msn messenger and she has gmail D: , but she is using meebo, and I'm just getting emails from her ...
