No it isn't, if you want to copyright it, you're free to.If you want to professionalise yourself, the only one best was is going for it, designing, running into problems, solving them yourself. Thats the best way to learn. And when you have problems you can't solve, we're here to help you with them. Get Dreamweaver MX 2004, or just open NotePad, and go for it. I suggest you start learning XHTML & CSS. But if you come and study with me next year, you'll learn it all in class :) our teacher was very good and if you're interested, it's the perfect base for solid webdesign. Just keep in mind that JavaScript is Evil, all browsers must be supported, and your resolution isn't the only one that exists. Work with HTML 4.01 Strict or XHTML, and CSS 2.1. Good Luck

I was in the same sitation as you. My advice... Find something you're really interested in, and just go with that. If you have a hobby, put up something special about it. If you do computer graphics, make a gallery of photos. Videos, sounds, whatever you have. If you have a favorite movie, or anything, make a fan site.

What is it that you study? I'm moving into year 11 soon and have been looking at the different things i can study at Uni. I was thinking that something along the lines of computer programming would be quite good. Any advice would be great.

I suggest that you get ms frontpage and that you start building a website using a website template and then you could add to it some pages(when you start building, the ideas will just come to you) and if you want a more powerful editor afterwards , you could go for dreamweaver

I study applied informatics, but the best way to learn things, is learning them on yourself. Google to find tutorials & howto's, experiment, and make as many mistakes as you can.

Hey Man,For any site of any type what-so-ever, you need to have the content first. So type down all the contents preferably in .txt form. Now switch on DREAMWEAVER MX ............ if you don't have it, beg, buy borrow or steal it ............ now copy and paste the text and format it to your heart's content. And lo u have a site.AS for the cool websites, making one cool website isn't easy, it takes lot of hardwork and gr8 asthetic sense. So as a begimnner, choose any WYSIWYG editor from i-net and start making your site.Bigyan

Frontpage is good to use if you are a beginner. Once you have mastered in creating good webpages, you can then turn to other webpage designing programs that are more complex and challenging. Many people prefer Dreamweaver, and some prefer other softwares that can do as much or less or more then dreamweaver. It is all based on a person's preference.

Dreamweaver is a good site to learn how to do alot of neat things with html, and its alot easier than trying to google it. I mostly use dreamweaver as a means of finding out how to do neat stuff (examine code). As for inspiration... Surely you have some sort of hobby that you are interested in? Cars, sports, friends, there has to be something.

Here is an idea: start a blog. Its all the rage and stuff right now. But more importantly, it gives you some idea of where to start, and its not super complex(auto blog software is, but I mean put it all together yourself). In order to do this, all you really need is the most basic of HTML, and from there you can just keep adding on till you have something fancy enough to make you happy. Then, when you have learned CSS and HTML, you can work on something harder.
