yordan 10 Report post Posted July 31, 2019 I would ike to know which Excel file in a given folder contains the word "Alligator". Or course, the same problem occurs if I am looking for another word, "bird" or "hammer", and want to know in which .docx file it is. Of course, I could open each Excel file or each Microsoft Word file and look whether this word is present or not. However, I have a lot of such files, and I would really know in which file I was talking about alligators. And unfortunately, wingrep does not grep inside binary files. Does somebody have an idea? zorba4 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2019 Nobody has the answer ? I also have this problem, with my Microsoft Word .docx files. I know I wrote something about testing the "lparstat" command usage and examples, but I don't remember in which document I wrote this. I will try wingrep with the zip option, but I'm almost sure that excel and word files are binary files but aren't zipped files.
