yordan 10 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 Great tuto, infotronix. However, two things could lead to discussion.First of all, if you use your home PC as a server, you don't need a ftp client.Secondly, there are some discussions on the forum concerning the idea of using your home computer as a web server. For instance, a standard home internet connection does not have enough banwidth for sustaining the traffic, your should have a professional internet connection, which could cost more than renting a hosting server from a webhosting provider. Logan Deathbringer 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Another problem with using your personal home computer to host your website is that at that point you leave your computer open to security risks. Remember this is the same system you use to surf the web and possibly shop online. You can possibly have banking information on it and other personal information of a sensitive nature. If your wanting to run a personal webserver from your house then I would suggest finding a decent second hand computer from somewhere and run your webserver program from it. There are various Linux flavors that are simple to install and use (mint for one) that I'm sure you can find a webserver program for and be up and runnin in no time.
