mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2012 I am not much into jquery and most of the time use what I have and what can be done in short. But it seems more and more people are getting into javascript and jquery and related scripts. There are others like mootools or scripaculous etc. But considering the amount of usage jquery UI and skins are available on the internet it is fair to judge that more people are likely to lean towards jquery in future. No doubt sites like codecademy and nettuts are coming up with some tutorials that teaches you how to write good code in jquery. You can check jquery in 30 days here. Check for the opt in box so that you get notification for the new video.I have so far followed only 7 days and there are even more days to catch up. This is basically a video tutorial and I don't know how to download it on the hard disk. It seems they are hosting the videos on bleep.tv so no idea about capturing streams of that sites. But I am goign to find the solutions for that problem. I asked for the script that captures blips videos and i guess i may get some direction on that front.Check the first video if you want to get sneak peak. Some of the tutorials are not that great but good for beginners. You can create effects for disabling right click and other functions which you need. Some users are also using jquery for the opt-in box and the top toolbar. In any case i suggest you to do experiment on your own with their tutorials. I have a lot of videos to catch up so will update this thread soon.
yordan 10 Report post Posted February 18, 2012 I you really need to have the files on your PC, you can use an offline explorer. WinWget portable did the job on the first video, it downloaded the mov files in the tutspremium\courses_$folder$\30DaysJquery folder, and VLC played the mov files without any problem. mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks yordan. Only had rhythumbox and another player installed on this machine. Now downloaded the VLC from the software center in order to play the other files. I get that sometimes the file formats that are from the proprietory files are usually hard to play. I see that they are now allowing the option to download into mov format.Earlier that was not the case and had to saerch for the blip tv's format in order to download. In case of windows there is URLSnooper which I am using to download from such stream sites. I think this is a good idea for windows.By the way just noticed that the amount of file size is huge for even 10 minutes video. I know that their files have some quality but seriously they should use mkv or similar format to make it small download. I have to use some internal converter software to do that job for now. That aside, enjoying the video tutorials. These are some too basic but are good videos because pace of the tutorial is really slow and surely helps many of those who wants to learn javascript. mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 These videos are hosted on their server for free. You can check the button at the bottom of the post that says download video or something like that. So I don't think they;re restricting us. In fact they want more customers for theri paid subscription and this is their way of getting more. So that is the reason they're offering us to download the videos. That's how I see it. You can check if i am wrong at assessing that site. Atleast I have found the download videos button so I guess they are offering us free videos. The thing is that some of the linux distributions don't allow us to download some of the video formats due to license issues. Unless we use VLC there is no way to play those files. You may be right about their video tutorial distribution related to codeigniter. Which are not for download and they offer us to view them from blip.tv. So that is the reason they're doing that to save bandwidth. But those are cool videos. I would love to download codeigniter ones. Do you know how to download from blip.tv? I hope it's not illegal, considering videos are already free from tut+, it shouldn't be illegal to download them for offline viewing. I am currently searching for a way to download them, it's worth downloading those videos.
