manuleka 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) friend's place setup- two laptops (a and - laptop a connected directly (ethernet) to a modem- laptop b connects to laptop a through wirelesshow can i set this so that laptop b can connect to the internet through laptop a's connection?should an ad-hoc connection be sufficient to allow internet sharing? 8ennett 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 You should be able to bridge the connections in ad-hoc mode. So first you would bridge the LAN and the WAN connections THEN create an ad-hoc network on the wireless card. Once it is setup it would probably be best to reboot first (at least you do when using ICS instead of bridging, but that doesn't apply here because ICS only broadcasts internet connection through LAN and not WAN) then connect to the ad-hoc and test out the connection. yordan 10 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 You can also install a private proxy on laptop a : I suggest privoxy, it's free.Then, laptop b uses laptop a as proxy.This works fine : laptop b will be able to access the web, and privoxy will act as an ads filter and popup blocker.
