You're saying you want a script. We can't do anything at all with that infomation. No scripts at all can often make a good website.iGuest you can't, everything seperates file:// and http:// for security.

Microsoft windows update can check your files on the system and update them through the browser so yeah there must be a way

That's activex, which is ms/ie only, things like Java are equally hard, but cross-platform/browser.
