Bill Gates To Leave Microsoft! :O

What do u think will happen to Microsoft now, i wonder how much he input into the decsions

The highlight of the event was Gatesâ leaving video speculating on what might become of him once he steps down from his full time position at Microsoft. The video shows Gates attempting to be a star in rock, rap, movies and politics and features numerous Hollywood stars, as well as past and present US presidential candidates.
The reality is that Gates will now concentrate his efforts on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is focussed on delivering global health and education and has an asset trust fund amount of 37.6bn dollars. Gates will also continue to advise on a number of projects at Microsoft. Causes mentioned were: fighting diseases in Africa, boosting Americaâs graduation rates, and helping women start businesses.

That much money does need someone smart and well known in control of it.Does anyone believe he's autistic? He seems quite confident and collected, not like someone who is smarter because of it (Einstein, etc).

Can you provide a reference URL to what you are quoting? This information needs to be verifiable as with any other piece of information.As for Microsoft, I don't really care. I use Microsoft products when necessary but I prefer open-source software when it is available.

This is very interesting news that someone such as Bill Gates to leave a empire like Microsoft. An empire that he built up, and flourishing as well as dominating technology each year. His decision to leave must probably be a good one to leave an empire like that behind that basically made him what he is today. If that was my empire I made sure I am apart of it, something that is as good as that should not be let go. Bill Gates has built so many things, well maybe not him but his empire known as microsoft has built a lot of things that users are now using. The worlds population with a computer is probably a majority of pc users compared to apple users. And even if they were a apple user they know how to use a pc. Bill Gates also build a very competitive industry in the video game entertainment business. With the success of the xbox, they have gone and released the most recent system known as the 360. Its hard to believe that he could leave so much behind on something supposedly better. I am curious if the first comment is actually true, because it seems to hard to believe. And if it is true it sure dont sound right and it must be another reason. If I was Bill Gates and leaving a company I built behind me, I would probably have an ingenius idea that would do better than what I have started.

Gates hasn't had a huge hand in Microsoft for a good number of years now as far as I know. I'm pretty sure he had even planned to step down by... 2005? maybe? but changed his mind due to something or other. Regardless it's not a spur of the moment choice so I doubt microsoft will actually be affected much if at all. Companies that big are controlled by alot of people so losing a figurehead probably won't change too too much.As far as his charity is concerned, he's already given a significant amount of money to charities and has explained that he's not leaving his money all to his kids, but plans to give away a vast majority of his empire to charity efforts to do good now that he'll be stepping down. Thats not to say he won't leave his kids more money then I'll ever see, but you know, comparative to his true fortune he'll be giving much more to charitable causes. Personally I don't think someones views of Gates or Microsoft factor in at all, if he's giving billions of dollars to charities over the coarse of the rest of his life, I can't see how that could be a bad thing.

True, but Apple did teeter when Steve Jobs left, that was the main reason why it lost to Microsoft since they didn't have the charisma of Steve Jobs. Now that they have Steve Jobs, Apple is starting to fight back, but not really that successful.

I'd like to share with you today some significant news concerning my personal plans and the plans of the company.

 

I have decided that two years from today, starting July 2008, I will reorder my personal priorities. Today I am working full-time for Microsoft and part-time for the Gates Foundation. Starting two years from now, I will shift, work full-time at the Foundation, part-time at Microsoft as Chairman and as a senior technical adviser.

 

Given that I’m going to be working full-time for Microsoft for another two years, some people might ask “Why even talk about this today?” We've decided it's the right to thing to announce this publicly two years in advance, because it allows us the time to make a strong transition, and provides the full transparency we think is best.
