Directx Problem

Recommended Posts

James Bond Nightfire, I played ages ago started making visual jibberish, and my computer temp was really high, so we got the fan replaced. The game still didn't work. A new game I started reccently, gave me the option of OpenGL and Directx. Whenever I chose Directx, I got the same visual jibberish, it worked fine with Opengl.

Is there a way to reinstall directx? JBN seems to need it, and some other stuff only works with it. I looked through its cp by cmd, and on the website but theres nothing about checking or uninstalling.

In the directx cp, this images (from someone else - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png) works fine for me, but the movie test never runs.

You can re-download directx from microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download but normally the directx installer is on the game disc (in case the user by some reason doesn't have it already, so they don't have to download it).

Chances are, that if you have problems with the video test in the directx cp, then it is a poblem with your graphics card - your card probably cannot run the dx version that the game requires. According to gamespy, JBN only needs a 8.1 compatible gpu, so if you have a really old graphics card, that could be it!

Best case scenario, you re-install dx and it works - worse case, you replace the graphics card it it'll work!
Good Luck,

Jimmy89 could be right or it's simply the fact that your graphics adapter is dying. I recommend you to replace it with a new one. It could also be a driver problem. Be sure to install the latest graphics card driver before you test it out.xboxrulz

What are the adapters? And I'm pretty sure it worked one day, didn't the next. There wasn't any graphics patch for anything in the year or so I played it."Directx has determined that a newer or equivalent [copy] is installed".It took my parents a month and a loud crashing computer to convince them to get a professional to look at it, so I doubt I can get the card replaced. Where can I see if it needs updates or anything?

I just updated directx, Xp, graphics card, installed the game and an update for it and its still not working. It used to have some colours, I could tell the program was running, it played the music but it wasnt drawing the images right. Atm EA games support is broken. Nothing physical other than the thing you plug everything into on the back of the computer, and a fan (that made the computer so slow I had to quit) has been changed, and nothing that it needs has been uninstalled. Any ideas, anything I could post here or somewhere else?

That can happen without any physical damage?

All electronic equipment is subjected to wear and tear, be it through heat, electromagnetic migration or etc. It will eventually fail without any physical abuse from the outside. On the inside, it may be broken beyond recognition in the microscale.

My brother's GPU died out of the blue and it was a new card, the core sputtered out, maybe because he used his card too much playing his games (no overclocking there).
