Freeware Dvd Authoring Tool

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a freeware program that can create DVDs which I can play on my standalone dvd player. Nothing to complex, creating simple menus, converting to the right format (I do care about quality, so being able to change some encoding settings is always welcome  ) and burning the disc is more than enough.

Try http://www.dvdflick.net/

Tutorial:
http://lifehacker.com/232322/hack-attack-burn-almost-any-video-file-to-a-playable-dvd

Or try a quick Google search for "AviToVob".
It's a script that calls transcode, toolame, mplayer, etc. to do the real work.
Then DVDstyler to make the menus and backgrounds, and burn away.

Or try tovid, a collection of video disc authoring tools; it can help you create your own DVDs, VCDs, and SVCDs for playback on your home DVD player:
http://tovid.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Or try Avi2Dvd:

By the way, it's interesting to share how I found the site for DVDflick.
I recently discovered https://www.essential-freebies.de/board/, a site dedicated to (as the name implies) freeware.
Don't let the fact that the whole discussion is in German scare you away, what they usually do is copy/paste the English description of the freebie along with the link, then they go on to discuss the software in German.

I googled for:
site:essential-freebies.de DVD
and at the top of the list was this DVDflick software.

im using dvd creator plus. it can convert most of the video formats to dvd, make dvd memu and burn it. but it's not a freeware. i don't find very good free dvd authing tool.you'd better install ffdshow to support video formats, select all the audio and video codec formats.
