Restoring A Full Backup Only admins can

Recommended Posts

Hi, when I left my last host, I had a full backup made, so that I could put all my files.databases etc. back when I moved host. I went to the backups center to restore it, but apparently only administrators can restore full backups. Can somebody please help? Because I really need this backup restoredThanks

Well Im usually generating full backup once a week. When Im moving to new host, I generate extra backup. Then I sort out all useful stuff, like public_html folder and MySQL databases. All other crap is useless (usually..) so Im throwing it away.. then I just upload public_html folder and restore MySQL databases in phpMyAdmin

Unless I am totally just doing things differently, I usually have my own backup. I archive basically EVERYTHING I do. Depending on taking millions of digital photos, to do many design projects. My backup system is basically CDs. I keep them with all of my install disks, setup disks. If I go to leave a site, I am not going to worry about all that is there... That is why I am leaving a site, forever.

Maybe I haven't been SO in depth, but I guess if did have a backup system available, I think it would make sense to update with it. So I guess I will see what Xisto has to offer when I begin with my site... whenever I get it uploaded. I guess I am trying not to rush things, so I am just creating what I need before I host.

I think the credit system does bother me a little, because I would hate to fall behind... not on purpose, of course. So my site got suspended I wouldn't know what to do! Ok, so yes, backup is important -- again I keep getting off topic.

Yes that is correct, you do have to have somebody else restore your backup. What i would recommend in the future is doing a home directory backup, as well as a mysql backup, and the other backups as well....that way you can just restore those backups in cpanel and you don't need the assistance of somebody else.
