MediYama 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 I have just signed up a few minutes ago, but when I try to get into my FTP, this is the error that I get: [13:29:05]Resolving host name "ftp.mediyama.astahost.com" [13:29:05] Unable to resolve host name. [13:29:05] Active Help: www.smartftp.com/support/kb/index.php/81/ [13:29:05] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)... Any way to solve this? I have no idea what could be wrong, I logged in with these details: Host name: ftp.mediyama.astahost.com User: mediyama Until then I'll use the file manager in the Cpanel.. dserban 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 (edited) I've tried using nslookup on the host name you specified, but my DNS server says it "can't find ftp.mediyama.astahost.com: Non-existent domain".I don't have a problem on my subdomain though.astahost subdomains should be working right away, so you will probably need to wait until Monday to get help from the admins. MediYama 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2007 I followed your advice , xboxrulz. The page says that there is no problem with my account configuration, yet I still can't access the FTP.
Gamer David 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) If you are using EI7 than you need to go to internet options and then go to the advanced tab, then scroll down to Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) make sure this is checked. Also you may want to change the your Security setting to med-low Edited June 24, 2007 by Gamer David (see edit history)
MediYama 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 I don't use IE for my FTP, the web-based FTP in the Cpanel does work, but I can't access it using SmartFTP. I have no firewall set.
pyost 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Maybe a slight modification of the host name would help? For example mediyama.astahost.com
MediYama 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Maybe a slight modification of the host name would help? For example mediyama.astahost.com Tried that too, still does not work. The same thing happens. The only thing I don't understand is that the cpanel ftp does work.

I have no firewall set.You may still need to change the setting, most programs use the IE configuration files.I do now the most browsers are easy to use with ftp, including IE7.I know i have no firewall on my system its self, but i still have to use this setting because of my host. SilverFox1405241541 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 I have had a horde of problems with FTP as well. yourdomain.TLD username: CP Username Password: CP Password Make sure those are set. That the Port is TCP-21 and that anonymous IS OFF. That's all I can say other than look through the support category. There is ONE (only ONE) good thread on this that is VERY helpful. xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I suggest just using Windows Explorer to attempt an access to your FTP account. Else, I have to elevate this issue to the admins.xboxrulz

Else, I have to elevate this issue to the admins.xboxrulzNope, still says the same as it did before. I don't think it's my computer anyway, since my previous ftp hosts all worked.
