Chesso 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2007 Sorry wasn't exactly sure where to put this, I guess this is more asking for knowledge than giving it......Uhh anyway, I want to listen to music while doing my work on PC, however my freelance work at this time can have randomly intruding sound (so I can't really play the songs on my PC, or my work might go belting out with it here and there......).As it stands right now, I don't think I have any CD's left but plenty of DVD-R's, I don't use sound systems (as I have a PC....) but I do have a PS2.I don't suppose it's possible to burn music to DVD as you would a Music CD to play on it? (otherwise I don't think PS2 supports MP3 discs of any type). This is something I haven't though of trying right now and would rather not waste a DVD-R or time for that matter on doing it if I find it's just not possible, so any help is greatly appreciated.Oh wait, I do actually have a DVD player that supports MP3-CD's (not sure about DVD's?, it's an X-Logic) but it hasn't been working very well (been watching DVD's on PC and PS2 usually). WeaponX 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 This does seem possible. I read up on an article at AfterDawn that mentions a program called Paradox PS2 MP3 Player. Finding it is another problem though. I tried to look for it at the PSX Forum, but just found this:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Chesso 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 Ahh bummer, I think I know how there doing that. There effectively making up the file format fashion that the PS2 caters too for games. Which means I would need a mod-chip (I have one of those darn new slim PS2's, I couldn't find the older version ).I'm just trying to think (or hopefully find someone that has tried), I don't really see why a Music CD or DVD are really too different, they would more or less contain the same data, the question is whether the PS2 is picky about the type of disc or not lol. foolakadugie 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 I don't own a PS2 but I believe that they play DVD movies. Am I correct on this (unless my friend's is just modded)? You could use a DVD authoring program to make a dvd with the music divided into chapters for songs or artists. There are some freeware dvd authoring programs out there to use. This might be more hassle than it is worth, though. What type of work are producing the offending sounds with your freelance work? Are they coming from a web browseror application? Maybe there is a way to block or suppress those sounds.
unimatrix 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 There was a generation of audio DVD's made along with players. I know a couple audio files that loved them because they could listen to concerts in 5.1 surround sound.
Chesso 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Yup you are right, the PS2 plays DVD's out of the box and even the slimline version plays them very well I might add. That is an idea, I think I do have a nero DVD authoring program that could handle this. (thanks for the suggestion I never thought of it).And yes while some can be local, I can keep the work mostly within the browser. It's mostly that sometimes I like to listen to something to uplift my mood and get my sore wrists and fingers moving LOL.
