nightfox1405241487 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 In therory, my home server is setup just like a web hosting server. My user account has a web directory and yadda yadda. The only way to access it is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/How do I get my user account to work with a domain (and it is going to be a cjb.net domain because I'm cheap like that, )Thanks![N]F
Alegis 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 Ehm, you just write the address like that on the correct page ?http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/if it does not accept extra foldernames after the domain extension, try masking that adress with a no-ip.com name. Examples: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://www.noip.com/.Or get one at no-ip.com or another url forwarding service instead if cjb does not support "specific" directories ... vhortex 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/How do I get my user account to work with a domain is your home server accessable to the internet? if it was not accesable to the internet then you have a big problem and need to change your host configurations.--if you are going to use a cjb.net domain then register one and input your access to your host. the http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ part, if that produce an error like host not found.. your domain account is not set to broadcast to the internet.i asked that since some domainhost do not broadcast itself to the net and only listen to special IP address and ports on your computer. I have setup one a month ago which have no http connection active. all must go https since i broadcast the content to the WWW.setting up a domain is much easier though but it will take you at least 2 days to see the changes.. :blink
nightfox1405241487 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Let me try to clear this up... I have my own network domain and the server is accessible from the Internet (duh). However, my user account on my server can only be accessed via http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (my network domain) ~username (which is my username on the server obviously). However, I'd like to be able to access my personal account on the server via it's own domain (free). I think there is some sort of DNS involved but I'm not sure... pawitp 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 You'll just need to register at cjb. Cjb don't let you use your dns but instead uses it's own dns to provide redirection/masking. So it won't point to your ip address, but you just need to put the url to your account on your server in the website address field.
