yordan 10 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 where do i start in trying to get this to run?Start at the nVidia site. Last time I had this type of problem, I searched the nVidia site, and found a page about the drivers for linux, the way to install them and the way to make them work. You will probably have to do complicated things in the X-Windows environments, or download Linux tools from the nVidia site in order to make the whole thing work. Last time I spent more than one week but at the end the thing worked (er... to be honest it did not really work because I had very old monitors with very poor graphic capabalities, but this is another story).RegardsYordan

yordan 10 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 @organicbmx: The page you mentionned is enough, it gives the things to put in the X-Windows description precisely for this nVidia device. It should be enough if you are familiar with configuring X-windows in Lunux. if not, exactly as stated in the concerned page, you should use "XF86Config(5x) or xorg.conf(5x) manpages." organicbmx 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2006 would anyone [you yordan?] know enough and want to spend their time answering stupid questions from me so that i could get this sorted? im not too urgent at the moment becasue linux is my only distro for a few days and i dont really want to break it.i read what i could from that link and from a xorg.conf readme and didnt get very far. what i tried to do was to replace the parts of the xorg.conf file with what was on the nvidia page and change a few parameters. i then saved and rebooted and all i got was a bash prompt. whatever i did was useless so i restored my back up.i can post what i had and what i changed it to if anyone can read X configuration files. iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 4, 2011 A link that will help with x-windows setup for Nvidia cardsHelp: Using Dual Monitors With KDE/Kubuntu You might use the ENVY tool from Alberto MiloIt installs easily, even for beginners, and his site answers any questions you might have. Envy or the later version EnvyGN (? - can't remember name exactly) is a graphical tool that will untangle the confusing problems with X-Windows and set things up properly for you. If Ubuntu will not provide a display at all . . . you might boot into Windows XP, 7, Vista (providing you have a multi boot machine) open the internet, go to the site below, make a copy of the attached info provided, put it in a place you can access it from Ubuntu or Kubuntu then when needed it will be available. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -reply by Dr. Cook
