TheJeffsta 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Well, As i normally go away at Christmas, Easter etc. I was just wondering, when you get to 0 and below hosting days left, do they just stop visitors to your site or would they delete the account?I normally go away for atleast 10 days - at christmas normally about 20 or 30 days.I know that it would be best to keep my credits above say 30 or 40, but after a while i would get annoyed with having to keep posting to keep my credits up. Well as this hosting is supposed to be given to us for contributing in their forum, they should make it that you need to post atleast 5 times or something like that in 2 or 3 months (60-92 days). Then their would be less stress to keep our sites active and not forcing us to post heaps and heaps to keep our sites active. They should let us post when we like, but have a certain amount of posts we need to post every 2 months or so. The posting credits at the start to get the hosting account should stay, its just after the hosting accounts being accepted that they need to change the system of making sure people are active on this forum.Note: I cannot always access this forum due to some internet error with my ISP or something (i think my ISP blocks Xisto from some IP addresses or Xisto block some of my ISP's IP addresses)
TRAP17 ANNIVERSARY 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Once your hosting credit reaches zero, your site will then turn over to "This Page is suspended" message page, until you bring your hosting credits to positive value. I believe it's 4 then the site becomes active again. During the suspended time, you won't be able to upload via FTP or cPanel.Yes, it is strongly encouraged that you stack up your hosting credits when you know you'll be away for a long periods of time. Perhaps you should think about the paid hosting? I don't know. It’s not that expensive.
WeaponX 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Astahost likes to give users webhosting based on credits instead posting because they want you to make knowledgeable posts. If your information is helpful, that would be great. If it was based on post counts only, we will have just a few words in a reply (simple example): Topic Starter posts:Which processor do you think is better, AMD or Intel? Why?User replies with something like:AMD is better. There should be a little more added here as you can see. The more informative reply you have, the better it is for Xisto.Keep in mind what wooree said. Regarding your 20-30 days off, I would be careful there because once you hit negative 30, you can say good-bye to all your files and your account. Xisto will delete your account and they won't be able to recover those files. So rack up some credits before you leave for a long period of time. Post in the topics you feel will contribute to the forum, don't go around posting randomly since a Moderator will actually deduct your credits for doing that. jonassen-tjader 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Hi,I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question. But as far does I only have the starter package, but now have I searched to find out how far I'm to qualify to get the full package. In the old system could you see it on the count of posts, but since has the system changed and now is it only Hosting Credits that counts. Can some of you admins please help me to track my status to get upgraded.ThanksCheers!Jens
twitch 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Your hosting credits need to be at 31 or more in order to obtain the upgrade. Simply make an upgrade request, and they will issue with a token which you then use in the process.
HTML_Guru 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 To upgrade from your starter package to your advanced package, you need to first ensure that you have at least 30 credits. Then, you need to head to FREE WEB HOSTING. There is a subforum there pertaining to upgrading your account. You can thusly upgrade it there. Once you get your reply from, in most cases, OpaQue, you will then have your account fully upgraded and complete. I should certainly hope that that helped... derouge 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 When you upgrade are those 30 credits deducted? Or do you get the token and keep your credits? I guess it doesn't matter to me, as I plan to upgrade when possible .. regardless of the case.
moonwitch1405241479 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 To answer a few questions that have been answered numerous times before. If I go into negative credits, what happens? Your site will get suspended, visitors see a page which reads "This page has been suspended". How do I then get my site unsuspended again? You post, when your hosting credits go over 4 and the credits script runs (it runs every hour) then your site will get unsuspended. To prevent this from happening, try to keep your credits over 10. What happens if my credits just go even deeper in the negative? Well, that one is easy. Once you drop below 30 (meaning -30 or more) and the script runs, your hosting will be terminated, the files will be deleted and there is no way to get them back. Not even an admin can do that. Can an Admin or Mod increase my credits manually? Or decrease them? An Admin can decrease your credits, by running your post (the one that needs the reduction - as for the why we do that, I refer to the Xisto TOS and Board Rules) through a script. THat script calculates the credits you received and deduct them from your current credit count. A Mod, however; can not do this. An admin also can't just enter a number to be deducted from your credits, we can only do it through that script that I've mentioned. No admin or mod can "give" you credits, unless through the credits transfer system, which is where anyone can do it, meeting the requirements of course. TheJeffSta - the system you suggested is not feasable, it would only lead to more abuse and more workload for all of the moderating crew. While it seems we do nothing, we actually have a lot of work keeping this machine running as smoothly as possible. This is the way Xisto works, you post for credits. Period. Sorry. Now, the upgrade question : I refuse to answer that one, it's been answered so many times, I am sorru. READ THE POSTS!! IT'S PLASTERED ALL OVER THIS BOARD!
