infamousflame 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 Lol, I can imagine this woud be very frustrating, here's how to solve the proble; press the Insert button on your keyboard. Now try correcting your mistakes, it should be fixed. It's caused because having the insert mode on means that when you type it just overwrites anything after it, instead of putting it in before the rest of the text.Hope this helps! Houdini 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 It seems to be either more of a problem with the software or editor and possibly some settings because notepad Wordperfect, Word or just about any word processor will have a default the allows inserts without having to do anything. When you want to edit something try highlighting the area you wish to correct and just type in the new text. To highlight either left click and hold down the left mouse button or hold the shift key while using the appropriate updown or left right keys then after typing in your correct text if you notice text adjacent to it disappearing then just press the ins or insert key (after you go to edit and undo your last action). and you should be alright. then You might need to look at your preferences or options of the editor and look at insert or delete or ins del and see what is happening. Â It's caused because having the insert mode on means that when you type it just overwrites anything after it, instead of putting it in before the rest of the text. Â Hope this helps! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, the insert button was the first thing I was thinking as the problem to.I'm wondering why this happens with her though? Â With me, I only get the problem using corel word perfect (which works great). Never has it happened to me outside of that program. So it's a little weird that it happends to her so often :S Â Oh well, should be solved now though. Thanks for posting so fast inflamous
Xcl 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2005 Actually, I have the same problem. I will be typing a school paper, and in the beginning it is fine. But because I type very fast, and I look at the keyboard (habit from playing games), I don't see errors and sometimes I will go back, strart typing, and lose a whole paragraph! I would suggest pressing insert when it happens again, then getting a knife, and wedging out your insert key! Yes, I have done this. Since then, I haven't had a problem. But, if you still have a problem, I advise you contact microsoft Support or a local technology store. You may just have a defective keyboard, or maybe a partially defective system. solankyno1 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2005 As you have said that this problem comes on all of the systems not only a particuler system so I don't think that this is a problem of any type of software or hardware malfanction.Although you have written than Insert button is not creating this problem but I will still insist that the problem is only due to insert button. No other thing comes in my mind for this. Whenever this problem comes in front of you press Insert button for once and I hope your problem will be solved. cyborgxxi 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2005 Hahahaha!! Wooh!! This is so funny! I had the same problem since I was a kid. When I was typing in Word 95 and needed to change something in the text, it would happen the same thing like what happened to you!! :PYes, they're right. You'll have to press the "Insert" button, above your arrow keys. I learned of this about several years ago. Bah, what a doofus I am!! LoLIf it doesn't solve your problem, then you'll need a system wipe
