kevlar557 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I have a friend who is looking to put SuSE linux on his dell laptop. I have heard from some people that said that it is not good to put linux on a laptop. Is this true? I do not why it would be bad, but I'd rather be sure for my friend.
hazeshow 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 A girlfriend of mine has a SuSE 8.0 running on an IBM Thinkpad: Ethernet, DSL, Printer, USB, Graphics, Touchpad ... everything works perfectly! Trying out a Live distro running from CD before installing will help to make a decision.http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/GreetingZ
madcrow 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I run SuSE 9.3 on my laptop and I've yet to have any problems with it. The only problem is that there's a bug in my video chip that means that except under Windows, which does things to get around the bug, my GFX resolution is limited to 800x600. But that's just a minor problem: everything else works 110% Even the lousy built-in "modem" (I refuse to call any device that doesn't work as a REAL serial port in real hardware a modem w/o quotes)
