Help To Build A Forum Site Without Ads Links to Forum Board Scripts

Recommended Posts

There are so many nicely package bulletin board scripts out there - I don't think you need to create a script by yourself. All you should do is download a couple of them and see which one you like best. You can find them here:

1. phpBB2

2. wowBB

3. vBulletin

4. Simple Machines Board

5. Jive Forums

6. Invision Power Board - the one this site uses

.....

etc.

For a more complete listing follow this link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_forum_software

All you need to do is download one of these and follow the instructions of the setup scripts. The server you're hosting this script on should have a web-server software with php plugin up & running. Or else none of these will work. Try these board softwares - they come with numerous plugins to make your day-today life much easier and you'll have your discussion board up and running in no time. If you are happy with the end product - come back here and write a good review on your installation experiences.

All the best :P

I STRONGLY suggest SMF, you wont find a better Free ption in my opinion. Very simple to use and VERY easy to set up, very powerful if needed but simple to learner admins. I do recommend this more than any else!

Well, check out my forum @ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I did it with phpbb thru my control panel, and I think the only ad is the copyright info and the pic up top that says phpBB. Its under fantastico, I think, and I even set it up through my tmobile sidekick2. Its def. worth checking out.

Peace

Aaron

Yes there are many scripts pre mae for you and most of them are installed you cpanel....Just go 2 fantistico like lacking said....

I can't remember the name of one of the scripts inside there but it is souly made for the purpose of teachers and students to come together...and answer questions and stuff...I can't remember the name as I said but you should really look into it...If not just got with phpbb or invisionboard...And if you want to make a webportal kinda thing I recommend going with e107 they are really amazing and quite advanced for a webportal...They have almost developped up to version 7.0 of their software and it has a really nice community, people who really help to contribute themes and plugins for your specific needs, and it's more user friendly and not over used like other web portals such as phpnuke or post nuke....So yeah good luck with your site and if you need any help just ask here

Also, if you don't want all the setup hassle of a phpBB, look for the fully modded version like https://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=mfhosting&e=com

uses.

It has a cool fade transiton between pages and is already set up for you. Very, very simple to use. I think the official website is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

but I'm not 100%positive.

Just ask jeeves :P cus google is the devil.

Peace

Aaron

I think Invision Power Board needs to be bought, right? Doesn't the free version have ads and have to be hosted on InvisionFree?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Nope, If you have to trial version you don't. I'm happy to lend anyone my version of it. As you can see at the bottom of this page, this board is a trial version and Invision haven't sued here yet.
