The above link is a list of free security software for Linux, Unix, and Windows. IMHO, some of the best programs on this list are these:

NMap
SAINT
SATAN
SARA
OpenSSH
PGP
LSOF
OpenBSD
Bastille
HPing
FPing
snoop

this is also a very good site that contains tons of .iso files for countless Linux distributions:

http://iso.linuxquestions.org/

and that should keep you all busy for the next five or ten years...have fun, everyone

Thanks,
Stephen

Here are some things I found on the net for free (with no adware/spyware, either!)

1st Page 2000 (a great html editor with lots of features

 and it's totally free!)

WinPatrol (this keeps track of all the background processes, esp. if you were wondering what they were, and warns you about malicious programs running on your PC)

WordWeb (a free thesaurus/dictionary, and it quietly sits in your systray for your convenience ....I can't spell so it helps, lol)

Mozilla Firefox (a nice, free alternative to IE)

OpenOffice (an entire office suite with word processor, spreadsheet, presentations, and it's compatible with MS Office)

I like downloading from cnet's download.com or tucows because they give user ratings and reviews. I hate downloading something only to find later that it's crap.

PHP Designer 2005 It's a good editor for PHP but also it can check html, c# java and more languages syntax.

AVG Free It's the best anti-virus program i've encountered, free and i think better than norton antivirus, it found a virus that norton didn't found -.-

GIMP A great free program for graphics editing, it's not at photoshop's level but it's a good alternative. Originally it was a linux native program then its great success ...and after the windows version :)

SharpDevelop A valid alternative to M$ development environment. SharpDevelop is an open source IDE for the .NET platform. Supports various project types in multiple programming languages.

Mozilla Firefox The best web browser ever been made. i love his tagged browsing, and all security features. and i like the large choice of plug-ins, u can make your firefox very customized, but with more plug-ins it run a bit slowly :(

SpyBot&Search A great program for spyware, it's free and very efficient.

That's all the free programs tha i actually use on my pc, them works great for me sometimes better than programs i bought previously -.-
