Darren1405241470 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 I would prefer not to have to have to do posts before i got the free hosting account however even if i didnt have to i would contribute to the forums. I have gained alot of extra info from the forum that should help produce better web pages. One of the most valuable sites i have so far found is one that i have mentioned before site-dead It gives you a step by step tutorial on how to promote your web site. Charly1405241472 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2004 A shoutbox can be a good tool for a website because it is much more convienent for people to react in it, rather then a guestbook, or a forum. Most important is a good linking system. Every page should have a link towards the home-page. It's inexcuseable that someone who visits your website gets 'stuck' on a page, and can only get back to the homepage by pressing the "back" button (it's not very hard, but very inconvienent). zandramas 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 A shoutbox is definately a great thing to have, or a blog that people can post suggestions, or just have a general quickchat. I think a small forum on the website would be great, for those who wants to help review or offer suggestions to what is great to have or what is great to use. One advice I always wanted to share, "please make sure your website is simple to navigate and easy to read" I have seen alot of website where people have tiny fonts, light background with light text *wince* and vice versa.. I also find that too much animations and large graphics can really slow down the person's desire to check out the site, if they have to sit and wait for a long while for the page to load up. Spartan000 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 I suggest everything that zandramas says. I also suggest that you make a downloads section. It can be anything random but usefull. I don't know about other people, but I like downloading new stuff just for the sake of trying it out. A nice thing to have for a site is a certain theme. Make it about video games or something else you like.

If you don't have anyone contributing then others won't come because they think it is unpopular and therfore no good and your site will "die".
lipunuska1405241470 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 The shoutbox idea is great, because most of the people don't sign guestbooks or register in forums, and with a shoutbox or tag board your visitors have and easy and fast way to leave a message

zandramas 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 Is there a site that can show you how to manually create a shoutbox or guestbook without having to use other companies or other services??? This guestbook would be kept onto the same site as the rest of the webpage, and then when it reaches a certain number of entries, only the oldest half of entries gets copied onto the text file for the owner to download, then removed off of the guestbook to preserve space? I am really interested in getting information as to doing that so that people will not get saddled with guestbook servers that could be down too often. Thanks
jcguy 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 I don't think there's such a guestbook but if you're worried about free guestbook services that have lots of dowwntime and are unrelialbe then you might want to set up your own guestbook. You can install one easily via cpanel

spaceseel 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 One good website that lists freeware programs in relation to website tools can be found on: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html This website lists freeware programs of anything that can be freeware. There is a section called Webtools (or something similar to that), you can find a lot of free web tools.
spaceseel 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 My favorite freeware website that includes web building tools is: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html. This website includes a rating system so you would know if the program was good or not. Some of my favorite freeware programs were on this web site. Just my suggestion.
