Choosing Best Free Hosting Free Hosting

Recommended Posts

i reckon good free hosting is very hard to come by these days. i mean, even free hosting is not really free hosting as you're required to post in forums in exchange for space and bandwidth eh.free-webhosts.com is also the site i go to all the time to look for suitable hosting and i found Xisto through it.

same here i was a regurlar web surfer on free-webhosts.com until i found this site Xisto. it mentioned something about a forum and posting to get the host. gave it a pass a couple of time becacuse it cant be real!after a few signed up hosts that failed. like it changed to popup banner and thing like that, i gave up and had a go at Xisto.i signed up to Xisto, posted and chatted to the friendly community here and got my host server is as that. if someone is looking for hosting server i would recommend THIS!

hey i just checked out fr33space.com and i think free-webhosts.com is better in the sense that it ranks the webhosts and arranges them according to how many votes they have from people, and it states whether forum posting is required or whether not all sites are accepted etc. people also get to leave comments which are what i like to read when i choose webhosts.

I hope that Xisto.com is really good, I used a few other services but they were down more than it was up. So my advice for free services is be careful about downtime, it can get really annoying.

I always like to look for hosts that have no forced ads on them, so my pages won't look so cluttered (especially no pop-ups, they're just annoying). FTP is also a big thing for me so my page transfers take a lot less time to do. As well, I look for free hosts that offer mySQL and PHP because I run a fanlisting and want to use the PHP-bases scripts to make my fanlist run smoothly

I would like the option to host my domain. Not just subdomain.

Now that domain names are getting really cheap (even free), anyone can afford a domain. So why go to subdomain.

And about ASP and PHP, my persoanl pick is PHP. More widely accepted and easy to program.

Where can I get a free one? I've been looking for ages!

I've tried a plethora of free hosts and even paid hosts over the years, and from my experience, most lack one feature or another that I'd like to implement, IE, the ones with PHP support requirean activation fee, unlimited webspace, but no files over a certain size and no PHP support.. ect...As for paid hosting, I find recommendations from other sites are usually how I decide on that.As for this site, I wasn't even aware it offered free web hosting until I started reading (yes i am that daft at times). What i look for in a webhost is:- moderate webspace (75-200MB)- medium to high bandwidth- database support of some kind- no pop ups (ads are alright to an extent.. but popups... urgh)- easy to remember domains (none of this domains.cc.12.com/yoursitename)- great customer supportPS: I love the concept behind this site, it's like a co-op, and i love co-ops..... i think i have some socialist/commie tendencies :)

I've found LifelessPeople's web hosting to effective, but it requires too much posting for my tastes. The enforcement of activity and slowly rising activity requirements are just too much.

I guess if the webhost is really good then why not. It's not like the community here is bad or anything... there's always something to talk about. For myself. what's important as I look for a webhost is little or no ads. Small banners at the bottom is fine. But yeah, NO POPUPs. It's horrible.Speed at which the pages load is also crucial. Little downtime is another must. One question. I realise that Xisto and Xisto are very similar. Is there any difference between the two?
