I bought a used PCI RAID card on Friday. I usually buy the cheapest possible hardware products but not this time. It's a 3ware 8-channel adapter for 64-bit PCI bus. I paid 350,000 Won or about US$300 in cash.Most of my existing hard disk drives are already occupied for other purposes, mostly full of data so I need to have at least 8 more. I'll probably buy Samsung's 160GB drives again. Or for even more space, I'll choose Western Digital or Seagate 200GB.

Hi Guys,I was just wondering when I burn 50% of the time to a DVD-R, the writer fails to burn. The other 50% of the time, it succeeds. I'm only having a problem with DVD-R. For DVD+RW & DVD+R, it burns fine. (0% burn failure so far). Could it be the disc or the burner that's broken? It could be broken when writing to DVD-R. Hi, Currently considering purchasing the R200 printer. Bit unsure about this CD/DVD print option though - I'm getting visions of DVD's coming out covered in ink on the underside or something...Is the CD/DVD print function on this printer any good?Any thoughts from users please...Any other comments on this printer welcome too.(Still unsure if to use compatible inks or get originals for it)Cheers,

nstalled a new alpine media player in my car and I am having trouble getting it to recognize/play my DVD-Rs. I spoke to an Alpine Tech rep and he stated that the new DVD players released on the market won't play copied movies due to some protection that was mandated to be implemented by 2005. He couldn't tell me specifics except that it had something to do with a hidden file.Does anyone have info?

Since I bought a new motherboard, my computer shuts downreally strangely. I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro motherboardwith an Athlon +2800. Anyways, when I go to shut down thecomputer either by using the power off button or by gracefullyshutting it down via windows, it starts right back up; exactly likea restart. I don't understand it. I've gone through my wiringplenty of times. Otherwise the computer runs like a champ; butthis power shut down problem is really frustrating. The only thingI can do is hold the power button for 4 sec.. But I don't like doingit that way because windows doesn't go through the shut downprocedure gracefully. This did not happen with my old motherboardinstalled. Someone help.Thanks in advance

Did or (does) anybody have a PCI TNT1,2 board in a pentium (up to 200, 233Mhz pentium CPU) board? Did or does it work? As I can't make it work. In bios I have enabled "Assign IRQ to VGA" but system (Win98) keep telling me that "device is not configured properly". I have tried with latest Det. 56.64 and with Det 30.82 (win98 drivers od course) but in either case system didn't "activate" the drivers. 3D adapter is recognized by system but works only with generic driver which comes with windows98se. After drivers are installed system have hard times to boot and in some cases even hangs during boot process. I have even reinstalled Win98SE but it didn't help.Machine is around 6, 7 years old and consist of P200MMX, 64MB ram, some S3 video based VGA (2D)adapter. (Of course, I threw it out to test the TNT2.)I have tried TNT2 on my machine (AMD 2100Mhz, NF7-S, 512MB DDR ram, WinXP) and it worked without any problems.

Gotta get a new printer. I had pretty well decided on the Canon i560, which is selling at my local Sam's Club for $79 plus change. Then someone pointed out to me that the Epson R200 ($92 shipped from Newegg ... and really only $6 or so more than the Canon if you consider the tax I'll pay at Sam's) will print directly on discs.I'm having a real struggle with this (can't help it; I'm an indecisive sort). My primary motivation is cheap refill cartridges. It'll cost me nearly $60 to replace the color and black carts in my Lexmark (which are dried up - AGAIN), and I wanna start printing labels (just got a DVD burner).So, the old conundrum . . . to print labels vs. printing directly on the discs. I've heard opinions both ways. Some swear that to avoid potential problems you should print directly to the disc if possible. Others are equally adamant that they've printed and applied hundreds of sticky labels to discs and have never had a related problem.Now, super-duper-photo quality is not of the essence for me. I've done my share of photo printing, and the novelty wore off long ago. Frankly, I've got a Sam's Club right across the street where I can print 4x6s for about 0.18 a piece all day long, so I could care less about printing photos. I'll primarily print disc labels, case inserts, sheet music (all black) and plain text.I cannot stress enough that cheap refills is consideration numero uno. I've probably paid for every printer I've ever owned 5 or 6 times over in refills. This time I've looked up the refill prices in advance. While the Epson's refills are pretty darned cheap, the Canon's are absolutely the lowest around (plus the Canon has 2 less tanks). I can get Canon black refills online for around $2 a pop, and even if I have to run out at a moment's notice to my local store they're only about $7 or $8. The Canon also has the PictBridge (something else I probably won't use, though).On the other hand . . . the Epson has a front USB port where I can plug in my laptop for quick printing. Pretty cool. Might use that.I guess I'm leaning towards the Canon. Even though I anticipate making lots of discs, I think only a small number of them will be "keepers" (a disc that merits its own permanent facial d?cor). I think a nice case insert will do for most. Also, I'm still playing around to figure out which media type will work best for me in my 4 home DVD players, and it seems as if to get good quality injket-papered media you have to order a spindle of at least 25. I don't want to buy 25 or 50 +R discs only to find that -R work better for me. I haven't seen any inkjet discs in little 3- or 5-packs in my local stores, or am I missing them??Guess I'm just wanting to hear opinions before I rush out to Sam's tomorrow. I've been using a program called hdd thermometer for the last few weeks.As the program states my hd reaches to temps up to 52 degrees (Celsius) and is giving me a warning.Do high temperatures lower the hard disk's life span ?Do i need to buy a hd fan to lower the temperature ?Should i buy a dual or single fan ?

how do I know if my processor is worn out? I have been building a website, and everything was fine until about 4 days ago, all of a sudden it started taking forever to upload files. Now I can't go online without it locking up, the computer won't even load outlook. I have another processor, but don't know if it would be compatible with my motherboard, or would I just be better off changing the processor and the motherboard?
