Nisshutsu 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Most of the websites that I currently visit all of ads of some type in their website design. I was also planning to ad a few ads to my website to help pay for a domain name and was wondering where I should place my ads. Where is the best location to place ads so that a lot of people will click on them? Is it on the top or bottom and what type of ad service do you recommend that I use? Thanks,Nisshutsu
dissipate 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 Probably somewhere non-intrusive and not "loud" and "in-your-face". I usually prefer vertical banner-ads at the side if I have to see banner ads at all because they don't make me have to scroll down from the top just to see some content, unlike horizontal ads at the top, and they're seen while ads at the bottom might not. Regarding what type of ad service, I'd recommend Google AdSense.
overture 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2004 I recommend placing the ads in the news section of your site. If you have on the main (homepage) page some updates about your site or whatever, then place an add under that. Do that for every 2/3 news updates. does that make sense? lol
simonwty 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Yes I would prefer the side tower advertisement. Its more effective as advertisements from the side always catches my eye. I seldom look or glance at any advertisements on the top
lipunuska1405241470 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2004 I preffer the adds at the botton or top of the page, there are more easy to put or you can create a section ONLY for adds.
currahee 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2004 You could use pop-ups but then people might not see them with popup blockers and they're annoying.I really have to agree with dissipate on this one, Google's adsense lets you customize the colors so they match the color of your website so its not that intrusive. If you're looking for a banner ad... placing them on the bottom would be recommended... I mean the top has your site's banner and stuff and a banner ad would just ruin that. Also I advise to stay away from flash pop-ups that well... flash. Its very annoying and intrusive

Thanks, Nisshutsu <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i suggest you can use a frame to design your web site. You can make a frame on the top on your site and you only put a ads on there. So, every time your visitior visits your site will find your ads easily and they need to see the ads when they are viewing any pages of your site, because you are using a frame fixing the ads on the top of your site. iGuest 3 Report post Posted September 24, 2004 I think the vertical tower ads are the best way, they are seen and at the same time they are not annoying the visitors. (Just like we have em there on that forum) ;-))
jcguy 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2004 I've read somewhere before that a vertical 120x600 skyscraper ad placed at the right hand side of your web pages generate more clicks, before adverts on google also appear on the right hand side of the search results, so internet users are "trained" to see ads on vertical skyscrapers on right hand side of the page
kraizii88z 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2004 i'd think about using banners/images on the bottom of your main page
FirefoxRocks 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2007 I think the most effective ads are vertical ads that differ from the colour scheme of the site (but not blinking or anything like that).Ads at the top of the page may catch attention at first visit but visitors will ignore the ad in future visits. Also during that first visit, a visitor is not likely to <- snipped -> at the top of the page because they are looking for the information that they searched for, navigational links or other elements.A small banner ad at the bottom of the page may be somewhat useful, although not guaranteed. This is because users usually exit the site after looking for the required information. This is only useful when you get the user to click on links, read stuff, etc at the bottom of the page within the area of the footer/where you place the banner.Another idea is to try placing a column of small buttons (width 88-120) along a sidebar. I don't know about others, but I usually like to browse through these to see what the developer supports, uses, etc.Blinking, moving, motion-filled, Flash ads are annoying and may defer users away from your site. They may also cause seizures in certain people. With the AdBlock extension for Mozilla-based browsers, as well as Block Content in Opera and a few other little add-ons in browsers like Maxthon and Avant, ads are becoming increasing easy to block or make invisible. Using AdBlock and AdBlock Filterset.G, I rarely see Google Ads or banner ads anywhere. This may affect your ad traffic based on views/clicks because they may be blocked by these extensions/add-ons.Still, a vertical ad can be quite effective if it is using the right colours, text, and of course isn't blocked. :P}

Ysa 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 i think it looks best at the side or navi bar. and its best to specify that it's an ad so that people who click it and find something... um... disgusting, you won't need to take the blame.
