Epilepsy Drugs: Narrow Window Of Effectiveness

Recommended Posts

I have epilepsy and went to an Epilepsy support group this morning. We were discussing the side effects of medications. I learned that I need to watch for clinics (like the free clinic I go to that depends upon donations) that use generics and/or switch manufacturers of an AED because window of effectiveness can either lead to seizures and/or toxic side effects. I was upset because I am on 3 AED's now 1 for Epilepsy and 2 for mood stabilizers and I just got finished having side effects due to one of them (Topamax): Serious stomachaches! Thought I was going to die!!! :(:( I now have to go back to my doctors (Neuro and the clinic)and discuss ALL of my medications!
