Cant See Hard Drive When Plugged In can anyone assist with how to see the data

Hi I bought a seagate 1TB external hard drive, it was working fine and then unfortunaltey I dropped it and the usb to mini hdmi socket dislogdged and broke off and I could no longer plug it in to see the fileI am using XP Pro, susbsequently I removed the hard drive from the external casing which was housing the actual hard drive and I tried plugging it into a spare sata socket on my desk top PC and the hard drive began to operate, as I could feel it spinning but I couldnt see the drive when I opened my computer, the noraml drive was showing but the seagate one I plugged in was notI have stored a number of movies I dont want to lose, can anyone help in how I can see the data and then remove it from the seagate drive, as I beleive the drive itself is okthanksbj
