Here is the address of a website to download Windows 7 for free. Microsoft provides a free version of Windows 7 to try if the user likes to use Windows 7. Windows 7 starts to download. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ link is found on the website of a regular magazine for computers. So the idea is that it is legal to download and to use this version of Windows 7.The link doesn't work when clicked on it directly. The address has to be copied and pasted in the browser bar.

The web address is part of Microsoft.com, so it is unlikely to be pirated or a virus. The clue is the fact that the URL contains "EVAL" in the file name - it's an evaluation copy of Windows, which I think lasts for 90 days at the most. After that it shuts down every hour until you cough up the cash to Microsoft. I'm not exactly sure why the instructions have been posted above in such a cryptic manner, as you can download the trial in a variety of languages and for both x86 and x64 from Microsoft's website: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dd349342(v=ws.10).aspx Alternatively, if you're a student, you can get a free copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 (which is basically Windows 7) from Microsoft's DreamSpark website https://imagine.microsoft.com/en-US/Home Or, of course, you could download a Linux distribution for free ;)

Agreed with rvalkass. The reason this link is posted is because I think it is very interesting to know where to find a free copy of Windows 7. rvalkass is right. This is an evaluation version. The purpose of Microsoft is that people, especially owners of a company, can find out if they want to change their operating program to Windows 7. This can be done before making expenses and costs. The change to Windows 7 can be expensive when a lot of computers have to be provided with new operating programs. The link rvalkass provided (https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dd349342(v=ws.10).aspx) is a link to a version that Microsoft especially delivers for professionals in the information and computer technology sector. There is a hotmail account needed to get the link to download the free version, I guess. The evaluation version of the web address can be used for 10 days. This trial period van be extended 5 times. When the version is not activated it is possible to install the version again on the computer for another period of 10 days that can be extended again. Free illegal and pirate copies and versions of Windows 7 can be easily found on the Youtube. So there is no specific reason to promote a link to an illegal version over here. The advantage over the address in the start post over the link of rvalkass is that the download starts immediately after pasting the address in the browser bar. Here is the link to the website of the computer magazine where the webb address of the download page was found.

Since this page is not in English it seems a bit useless to put the link in here. It can serve to prove that the link is found on a website of a computer magazine, that is well known in the country where it is issued.

Since this computer magazine posts this link on its own website the idea rises that this version of Windows 7 can be used in a legal way. There is a bit of uncertainity about this though. Another part of information that this version is legal is the announcement of Microsoft that this version will be available till January 1. 2011. Unfortunately there is no link available at the moment to support this remark.

On the other hand if somebody is afraid to click on a link in this forum because of the fear of a virus it doesn't seem to make much sense to post a link to the website of Microsoft. The fear to download a virus will be present anyways.

It would not be surprising if the moderators of this forum will act very severely when an user of the forum would post a link that downloads a virus.

The same impression rises about the link to a pirate and copied version of a program. It seems this will not be allowed either.

The above is a part of my opinion.

The first thing you post is an advert that promotes a pirated copy of Windows 7? This smells fishy and it's probably a virus too.

Actually the idea is to do somebody a favour. The idea is to supply somebody with the opportunity to download and use Windows 7 for free.

This reply is appreciated because it opens some thoughts about the possibility to find a link to a virus on a forum.

I had a look at it and the webaddress in the start post is the same like the webaddress that Microsoft gives when pushing the link in the post of rvalkass.
