New Google Things

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most of you know that Google has registered gbrowser.com, and there have been a lot of rumours about Google making a browser. A rumour that started up again when Firefox's lead developer was hired by them

What many people don't know is that Google also registered[1] googleporn.com, is this the next thing Google will launch? :D

gbrowser is a welcome addition to google products and services, if ever this rumor finds its way to reality. :D until it is made public, we'll just have to wait and drool. :Das for googleporn.com, i don't believe that they have to resort to offering that next to remain competitive as a company. :D registering that is simply one way to protect the google brand, since owning it gives them control of the domain, and saves them the legal hassles of chasing after domain registrants who abuse and misuse the google brand and the google domain variants. :D

exactly, however, how about gporn.com? googleporn.net? google-porn.com? etc, how can google register everything to protect themselves?

there is MASS registration of domains, just in case you are not aware yet. :D and google can simply register as many domains as they want. some domain registrars have domain generators, where you just have to input several keywords ('google' keywords included, of course), and it will generate a list of domain name permutations based on those keywords. then with one click, it's reserved/registered. besides, the price of a domain name is practically "cheap" for a giant company like google, so registering them to protect the google brand will not be a problem.

also, google is first and foremost a search engine. and they can keep tab of all domains which infringes on their brand. :D and being a giant company, there may be a special arrangement as well between google and domain registrars to monitor domain names which gets registered bearing the google brand, and to stop domain registrant profiteers/abusers from getting those registered. (this is just a possibility, and i'm not saying google does have this privelege in effect. :D)

so there you have it, maximum protection for the google brand. :D
