Fading Hover Effect How do I achieve this?

does anyone know how to achieve a similar effect like the ones on that site??the fading effect

The fading effect on the menu at the top? Use something like jQuery, specifically the animate function: http://api.jqueryui.com/color-animation/

or you could cheat and make an animated GIF which does what you want (fades from the grey block to the coloured one) and then use an image rollover script to activate it.

This method is probably not SEO friendly..however it does sound more appealing than learning jquery..
so how would I go about doing that?
