ZettaAIR 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 That is an AWESOME picture!! I googled your camera and I think it is pretty cheap for that kind of quality photos. Only around $160. That is only if I am referring to the same camera. The "Olympus FE-280 Digital camera - compact - 8.0 Megapixel - 3 x optical zoom" is what I am looking at. Anyway, the dragonfly is beautiful even though it's one of those scary, ugly insects. =)
rpgsearcherz 5 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 That is an awesome picture! The details on it are astounding as well. Was the dragonfly stationary when the picture was taken or was he moving?
onscreen 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 Its stationary while the picture was taken. Dragonflies usually idle alot than flying unless there is some disturbance around. It is known that dragonflies is one of the best subject for insect macro photography due to its long idling time and less activity. A flying dragonfly is abit hard to capture unless you have a large aperture lens and a fast shutter speed. A hovering dragonfly requires good timing due to its sudden leave for other spot.@ZettaAIR : The quality of a picture isnt based of the camera. I would not consider it as luck but sometimes, if you take a picture blindly without worrying its technical settings, you will mostly end up a very nice picture. I barely get to get my hands on a camera. I would buy one but I can't choose because I wouldn't want to get a camera and find out that the quality is horrible. I am truly clueless when it comes to cameras besides the fact that you push a button and it captures a picture or video.

I have the same issue...I would love to hear more about how to determine what kind of camera is good, based on features or whatever. My issue in the past was that I would see cameras with "3.8 MP"(megapixel...it determines the quality of the photo in terms of resolution) that looked significantly better than other cameras with "8.4 MP" or something like that...I just don't understand how higher resolution could possibly look worse than lower resolution. It would be like taking a black and white TV and saying your brand new animated film looks better on that than your brand new plasma TV using HDMI and Blue Ray.Really, any input on that would greatly help. It was my main requirement in cameras in the past...But it failed me.So I'm going to assume the other thing to look for is the shutter speed?

Lol, you can buy like $1,500 camcorder to take pictures and record videos. I'm pretty sure it PWNS almost everything else. Well....at least I think it will.... (still clueless about cameras)
