Alex Cicala 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 Umm, If you have a modem it will be much easier. I am not sure about LAN cards. I'll tell you how to do it with the modem anyway. I have two ways of doing it. First: Connect both computers to modem with the cables. Create network on one computer with Network Connections in Control Panel Then connect the other computer to the one you created the network on. Now Right Click on your host computer's C:/ Drive or any other Drive and goto sharing setting and turn this on then set the permissions. Now you should be able to transfer files, use a printer/etc, or use programs over network. OR play games through LAN (which i'm guessing is what you want this for [am i right?] ) Second: This only allows file transfer I think, use this program: http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/ I'm not entirely sure on how to use this but you might want to play around with the trial. Hope this helps
truefusion 3 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 All you need to connect two computers together with just one ethernet cable is a crosswire cable. Normal ethernet cables won't work. With a crosswire cable you won't need to buy any extra equipment if both computers support ethernet connections. Do note that it may take a while for each computer to assign themselves addresses when using a crosswire cable. But once connected, you will be able to access one computer from the other computer and vice versa.

random truth 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 What it looks like you are trying to do is set up an ad-hoc network. I could give you a guide if you have a Linux or Macintosh PC in the mix somewhere... but I dont know how to set one up on an only windows network. It would probably be easier for you just to get an ethernet switch or a router.Multi-plicity allows you to control two computers with one mouse and keyboard. It is not what you are looking for...
