Google Maps I have got hooked on them

Recommended Posts

Lately I have got hooked into making google maps. My google map was of the USA with a dopplar radar overlay. yes had errors due to I really do not know much of Java and KMZ files. My next project is to make a map of the Gulf states of the US and easten coast. with a hurricane tracking map. really unsure if I can do all this, knowing what little I do know of how to make these maps. Also with how Google's map help is. If any of you here in trap have any idea's on this let me know. maybe make this a group project.

If you are interested in utilising Google Maps as part of a separate project, you will need to learn how to use the Google Maps API (Application Programming Interface) found at: https://developers.google.com/maps/?csw=1 . The Google Maps API is accompanied with documentation (https://developers.google.com/maps/?csw=1) that will assist and teach you the basics in integrating Google Maps into your application project.

Anyway, about your hurricane tracking project, it would be a bit difficult to create and constant update it considering the resources needed to get the meteorological information required for the map overlay. You may just want to have a look at existing ones like IbisEye, who have a 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season Tracking Map already available at http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/LK/99999999/MULTIMEDIA/130429724/SH/ . It uses the Google Maps API to overlay existing maps with hurricane data and makes other hurricane mapping unnecessary as it contains adequate information.

I think this is a very old topic to pick up and the author knows all about the google maps since it was posted on 2008..hope admins will close such old topics like this so that it will never be hooked up again if its ok?
