moogie 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 Congratulations to all Americans on this historical election and as others have said, God bless America. A historical election, not only because Obama is African-American, but also because the voter turn out was the largest in American history. A sure indication that the American people want change and want it badly.Around the world countries are celebrating this new president as one who offers them hope for better relations. The real test lies in the months and years ahead and we will have to wait and see how much change, not only domestically, but also internationally, President Elect Obama will be able to achieve. Being a very close neighbor and a major trading partner, Canada as a country looks forward to the promise that Obama offers as polls came back here at about 80% saying they would have voted for him if they could. sbfc93 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 Surely Obama is good news for the USA... I am surprised though at the margin of which he beat McCain by, I expected it to be close.
electriic ink 1 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 (i mean Ł9b+ ($18bn+) for the freaking olympics?! We dont even want the olympics!Yes we do. The government has been promising to revamp East London and finally they're doing it. At last, they're building the velodrome Stratford has for so long been asking for.Cameron is a step forwardReally?edit: Congratulations of a good new president by the way, even though the the cynical side of me would say that he only got in due to the fact most of news channels were biased in favour of him rather than because of his policies Is it me or is anyone else going else going to miss hearing any new Bushims?http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

shadowx 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 thats probably cos the US is a world superpower. they havent been handling that power responsibly recently, and hopefully obama will turn that aroundToo true, at the moment America is the school bully, so afraid that they are weak that they must attack those who are weaker to make themselves feel better (im not saying the public are bullies, only those that control you) hopefully obama is secure enough in himself that he can destroy the America we know today and rebuild it. the world knows that Old Bushy ruined the country that was once looked at as the way forward.I also think that the "family man" view of Obama made his win possible. I know over in America you see things very family and religion orientated, the fact that obama has a wife and two kids and is religious makes him the obvious choice in America. What will be interesting is to see how he handles his family and work life. It wont be easy for them as i expect they will be escorted everywhere they go, even to school i expect the kids will be in bullet proof cars with drivers and guards with guns. So it will be interesting to see how they cope with the isolation it could bring. I also like the fact that the Americans went wild cheering when he said he was going to buy a puppy! Its just a freaking dog!!!
Deretto 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 I'm so glad that Obama won. America can finally start going somewhere. I'm very curious as to what he'll do first. Waiting till January will be very annoying. It would've been terrible if Palin and that other guy won. I'm just not saying this to be anti-republican. The campaign was just really bad. All it was is "I have the qualities to be a good leader." I do respect that the guy in what he did to protect our country, but he didn't really inspire us with what changes he'd make.Lets not forget about the voting turnout! Obama has already done something great by getting so many people to vote in this presidential election. Go Obama!
