bluedragon 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 I am considering buying a new DVD Writer for My system. Since My new System has only ONE IDE cable support so I cant add More than two IDE drives. I am thinking of removing my Old DVD ROM and put in a new DVD writerKindly suggest me a good DVD writer that has the maximum write capabilities and plus I want to know what Light-Scribe is exactly ? I mean how does it work ?? Also I want to know is there a DVD writer that has capability to write beyond 16x properly ? I have seen some with 20x write capabilities

I mean how does it work ?? LightScribe allows you to burn a label on to the top of a CD. You put the disc in the drive "upside-down" (i.e. with the label side facing down) and use LightScribe software to design your label. It then uses the drive's laser to burn that label on the surface of the CD. Also I want to know is there a DVD writer that has capability to write beyond 16x properly ? I have seen some with 20x write capabilities Slower is generally better, so I wouldn't necessarily leap at a 20x drive until I knew that it would work reliably and store my data for a long time. bluedragon 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 I totally forgot I need one with a SATA interface .. Thanks rvalkass, I'll look for a SATA one from Lite-on. I guess they make reliable drives.Though I dont trust Samsung and LG but I've had this Samsung drive and its working properly for about 6 yrs now .. Guess this was one of a kind. It never gave me any problems like Lens misalignment etc. It reads properly. I even dropped it 2-3 times.. :)Thanks for the suggestions and the LightScribe thing is there in one of my college's comp. I think I'll try burning a label
