Im really happy with my phones camera.I have an Lg Voyager[VX-1000]With a 2 Mega pixel camera. At first i wasnt very pleased that the phone only came with a 2 mp cameracause it was worth so much money, but i am very pleased with the quality, and the filters that are on the phone area cool also,no need for editing when you can change the lighting and the whiteblanace. Also that i can change the size from 1600x1200 to 320x240Which is really good for the pictures i need to take for homework if i don't want to rite it down. ha

I hate the quality of camera phones. The picture quality, even set at the highest settings that you can possible go, usually come out grainy, full of noise, and off-tone as far as color goes. That's my experience, anyway, with my Motorola i580 which sports an awesome 1.3 megapixel camera. :) But almost nothing beats the multi-functionality of a cell phone that can take pictures and record video... and maybe I'm just missing out on the more expensive models that can actually take acceptable photos and video, but I would rather carry around my bulky Canon Rebel XT and take a great picture than settle for the portability of a camera phone. Yes, a crappy picture is better than no picture, but if I'm going to be going out to capture a moment, I will have my camera handy. I personally don't go out to pursue taking pictures with my cell phone because of that fact. Then again, it's weird how a night club scene full of adolescents comes to mind when I think of people that actively go out to use their cell phones as cameras... :) It might be good for MySpace, Friendster, or Photobucket, but it isn't that great to capture all of your moments that way.

My phone is a Samsung Preston Icon which has a 3.2 megapixel camera which is certainly not a bad camera but when I am out and I know that I want to take some decent photos then I will bring my digital camera with me. My camera is a Canon IXUS 80 IS - which has 8.0 megapixels but can easily fit into my pocket (it is not much larger than a camera phone) which is why I have no problem bringing it in addition to my phone.

Seems that alot of us won't get rid of our cameras for a camera phone. Almost all phones has the feature but it's just a waste of time. Only useful when you're gonna use a Facebook app or similar. You can't sacrifice quality when it's a hobby taking photos. Hey, a friend of mine has a camera phone and the camera specs are great. But he had to shell out alot of money just to get it. There are some pretty awesome ones on the market now. But I'll wait until the prices drops!

hmm camera phones are not comparable to most of stand alone digital cameras, most of digital cameras you get come with at least 3x optical zoom these days but a camera phone never comes with an optical zoom feature (i remember samsung had one but they didn't continue their way of producing camera phones with optical zoom because it needs more space). when you buy a phone with camera, you can take pictures with it but imagine this scene, you are in a stadium watching football and your favorite player makes a goal then you will probably want to take a picture, you will try to do that with you phone but the result is really not acceptable because you will not be able to see him in the picture and he will appear as a dot in it. so these times if you have a digital camera with optical zoom then you can take a real beautiful picture with zooming in without any quality decrease. If i had to choose between cameraphones available on the market then probably i choose nokia N8, i have seen its pictures and it is a real digital camera just without any optical zoom, the pictures taken were really high in details and very sharp and even in gsmarena you will find a comparison between nokia n8 , Samsung Pixon12 and a digital camera which is sony HX5. the comparison results are based on peoples comment, the result gives nokia the firs place, sony digital camera in second and samsung in third place, so it shows most of peoples are saying nokia n8 photos are just great. but here i can make another comparison, the sony HX5 comes with 10x optical zoom and even this zoom is available while you are recording movie, now the nokia is a phone and of course you have to pay more for it , so you have two options going for a HX5 (which is 10MP) for around 220 - 240 $ or get a nokia N8 (which is also a phone and multimedia player and many other things) for around 450 $ .I'm currently using two phones, one is HTC Desire and another is nokia N900 both are 5 MP but nokia n900 pictures are slightly better than the desire ones, any way taking pictures with n900 is easier because it is bigger and you can hold it easier in your hand while you are taking a picture but the desire is slim and holding it as a camera is not that easy. by the way their pictures are not comparable to a normal 6MP digital camera but when you are out and you see a real amazing scene and you haven't your camera with you then a camera phone comes handy, but when you want to take a good photo from a beautiful scene it is better to have a digital camera because it will give you more options on iso and controlling the shutter time and many other things which can affect the quality of the taken picture and this is what i think about camera vs camera phone.
