Watermonkey 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) So I wiped the whole slate clean and noticed they've got 1.5.2 now, so I installed it. When I went to add another admin under the user manager menu, it did nothing when I clicked on "NEW" in the upper right. This link is broken or something else is wrong here. I need to be able to add other admins to get this thing off and running... Someone help me please... Admin???Edit: I've come to the conclusion that the software that's on the server is bad. Could you, Shree, or someone over at Xisto please download a new copy of 1.5.2 to replace the one that's there right now? I've installed what's on there now twice with identical results, so I don't think it's a bad install, the original is bad. Thanks. Please respond when you've done it. rvalkass 5 Report post Posted May 18, 2008 I presume you're adding Joomla through Fantastico? If so, I don't think anyone has any control over what Fantastico does. Each piece of software has to be specially modified so that it can be installed using Fantastico, and therefore the software versions can only be edited/updated by the Fantastico developers (which is why the versions of software are often a little behind the current release). Does the same problem occur if you install Joomla yourself (i.e. download it from Joomla's website and install it)?
kobra500 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2008 Your gonna have to do it by yourself mate, it shouldn't take too long, the annoying thing is changing all the file permissions!

How do I go about installing Joomla myself? Pretend I'm a total novice here... Edit:Never mind. I installed 1.5.3 or whatever is the latest and greatest and I still couldn't add new users just like before. So I've concluded that it must be an Xisto problem. I've asked support to wipe the slate clean and re-format my space entirely. Hopefully this will be the solution to all these wasted hours of frustration. I have learned a lot through it all, though, so it wasn't all for not. I am at the end of my patience rope, though. Thanks for the responses, especially rvalkass. I appreciate it.R.
