Any Problems With Internet Explorer 7?

Where I work we've been told not to upgrade from Explorer 6 to 7 because some of our in-house programs wont run on it!This made me reluctant to upgrade my personal PC.Are there any known problems with the new version?If I upgrade & don't like it, can I easily go back to Explorer 6?Thanks for any tips!

Hmm, apart from the fact the Internet Explorer just plain sucks? It's ok.... ish, but I only use it to test the compatibilty of my webpages. I use Firefox 2.0 and Opera most of the time, but for IE only applications etc.. I'll use IE.

There are bound to be a few problems with the release of a new version of a browser, hence Beta testing... However, not all of the bugs are always found. And I've never quite been sure about downgrading browsers myself... My only advice is to download Firefox for you personal computer... You can find it Here.

[2]No, once you upgrade, you can never go back; unless, of course, you reformat.

 

But i haven't heard of any programs that stopped working due to upgrade.

 

I'd also suggest getting a different browser, as well. Like, Opera, or Firefox.

I have it, it worked fine for a while, but then started getting slower and slower untill it really was boring waiting for a new tab to be opened, the "options" menu to be displayed ..... Now i just use firefox 2.0

Might be interested in a Topic from our 'sister' Forum, Xisto. There appears to be an issue with Password Manager in both Fx2.0 and IE7. Patches are forthcoming, as I understand it.

Definatly ++ Just go get Firefox. It's a lot safer and much more standards compliant. Not to mention then your not supporting proprietary software. Open source is always the best.

And, uh.... no offense, Truefusion, but no. I downgraded to IE 6 on my old computer pretty easily.

 

If you ask me, IE7 is just a bloated version of IE6. Yeah, it's a tiny bit safer and a tiny bit more standards compliant, but it's slower. And uglier. I find it way harder to use than even IE6. They aren't putting the important stuff in thew toolbar. It's all hidden in menus and options *if it's there at all.*

 

Not to mention FF2.0 has built in spellcheck.

Eh? How'd you manage? I remember trying to downgrade IE before, and it gave me an error saying that it was not possible, cause i had a newer version installed. So, i only assumed it was like that, in general.

My primary browser is still Firefox, I downloaded IE 7 for the sake of seeing how much better have they made it. But when I opened IE 7, I was in the shock of my life, the toolbars are arranged in such a disgusting way, totally un-user friendly, and I was already pissed. On top of that, when you want to close a tab, you have to click on that specific tab before clicking on the [x]. However alternatively, you can click the middle button on your mouse to close the tab. The point is that IE 7 is so un-user friendly that I do not even want to touch it. Firefox is still the best browser on the net, end of story

I have just installed it with a 'Windows Update' a few hours ago.Looks a bit different so far no problems, for me it works at least at the speed of IE 6.

I have to disagree about the lag for some reason last few weeks on and off firefox straight up freezes on me. Although I haven't seen that from IE 7. Of course I only use I IE when looking at movie trailers and what not.I think the the reason the applications my not work is that your using an outdated .NET Framework and I do do believe that .NET will be working with IE7.Now the other reason could be that your applications were programmed for IE6 in which basically you have to update the coding to your applications and then they should be able to work.

All Internet Explorers have sucked majorly, and I highly doubt that IE7 will make a difference. Sure, it's got tabbed browsing, but all the other browsers had it already. And yeah, it's more "standards compliant", but then, Microsoft doesn't know the meaning of the word "standards", and from what I've seen, they break a lot with the "standards" of IE so far.But if you ARE gonna keep Internet Explorer, then yeah, go for IE7. Personally though, I say ditch it and use Firefox. Whatever IE has, Firefox already has better, and much more besides.

I've used IE7. I found it okay, but a bit slower than my Firefox. Firefox is so much better than IE! IE7 had nothing that Firefox didn't have already ages ago.
