It sort of goes along with trying to describe a goose that possesses an "avian coloration" or a bit of bread that seems to have gone "toasty". I think the best bet for this would be to pick up some cover art for any of the Diablo games - there's a wealth of hellishness in those, and besides that, they're just pretty. The only other artwork you're going to find that corrolates would be cartoonish or those very old "THINE SOUL IS IN HIS GRAFP" woodcuts.
