I am beginer, and I know I saw someone saying something about SEO, can someone explain this to me in a few lines or I have to learn slowly?! Sorry on poor English...

SEO means search engins optimizationbasicly meaning that you make your website popular on search engines, make it to where whenever someone searched for somthing regarding the content on your site, it always pops up in search engines.ways to do this would be to have the META Tags in your <head.></.head> section in your layout so that way the bots the search engines send around read that and say ok, this site is about Rock, KoRn, Metallica, etc... and so whenever someone searches for KoRn, your page will show up, whether it be on the first page or on the last page, it iwll show up.

META tag will do most of key word search but not completely. Sitemap and indexing of your web pages are also important. And the key words and its proximity is highly recommended.

For example, whenever you see 'Free Web Hosting, No Ads' it is no accident that this phrase is used and emphasided. This is because there are so many other web sites offering free hostings. When searched with words "web hosting without ad" the proximity between "hosting" and "ad" is closer match to "Free Web Hosting, No Ads" i.e. compare to key word search of "web hosting that does not force ads."

But before you go and adjust your codes and words, first you have to make sure search engines, such as Yahoo and Google, know your site actually exists. So few key steps are:

1) Construct your website and have clear idea of your file structure - this means you name a file "contact.html" and don't change later to "contact_us.php" this will be viewed as broken link and will not be indexed again.
2) Title, Meta, Content and all other words should be complete and flawless
3) Some crowlers love <a href= tags. But don't put too much. I was told that balance of link to your own site/page and few external links was good way to start
4) HAVE QUALITY CONTENTS!!! Bunch of nice flash or images will not be liked by web crowlers. Plain TEXT words are 1000x better than $400 flash animation. (now you know why Xisto demands quality posts )
5) After all this, go to site tools like https://www.google.com/webmasters/ register and follow their instruction.
6) sitemap.xml (not sitemap in webpage) is stressed strongly by Google so have one.

There are much more to be discussed but this is a good start. As you grow you can slowly add more to your pages.

Black hat SEO: aside your normal text document, you write a lot of keywords or phrases (combination of keywords) having the same color as the background, with a very small size of the font, underneath other elements (using negative z-index in css) and so on (also called SEO spam..however, there are more ways )..never use such way of promoting your site: maybe initially you`ll get a boost in the SERPs (search engine results page) - that is, a better positioning for some keywords, but on a long term, someone might just report and your site will be banned by google and other search engines

It's good to research your keywords carefully before you begin your site. It's better to not try to reinvent the wheel. Find keyword phrases that are popular and have some traffic. Get the gkw tool at softnick.com and type in your phrase. Look for a phrase around 10,000 searches per month. Use this phrase in your domain. The go about optimizing your site around this phrase.
