T100 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2006 I think many of those domains are registered so that others cannot take them over. Say googlesex.com, i dont think google is really interested in developing business in this direction. But some bad people may take up this name and do it in the name of google. So google is taking a protective stance. Many of those domains are like this.
Goth_Punk 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2006 (edited) wohoa! Now thats a list :)How many domains does google have registerd all to geather??Anyone know?? Edited August 5, 2006 by Goth_Punk (see edit history)
Arx 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 The bulk of those domains are just the same name registered over different extensions too like google.com, google.net, google.info etc. A lot of big companies do that to ensure they don't lose business when someone goes looking for google.com but instead types in google.net. Plus, there are a few on there twice unless the o's are zeros or something.

Yacoby 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2006 Wow, that is a lot of domains, it must cost them a fortune. (To me it would be a fortune, to Google, it is probably small change )Microsoft didn't do this, and someone else got IE7.com.
AeonLan 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2006 Now that's the reason why I am not shocked about the US Government trying to get information and datum that google has. Google has definitely made a big leap since the '90s. The microsoft on the other hand concentrates on their commercialized sites and rather not bother having free-quality services for the users. Take Hotmail for example. Ever since they started, the free package didn't exceeded 50MB for storage space. But google and Yahoo! upgraded their users' stograge space up to 1GB. And honestly, I am having enough space in Yahoo and Gmail than my Hotmail account which I only use for MSN messenger. Why don't microsoft look up to Yahoo! and google to where they are now and think about free services too.
