itssami 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 Hey..I want to know one very important thing.1.Is it allowed to register 2 letter domain by ICANN rules etc . Im talking about country domains , like http://www.xx.vg/ , or http://www.xx.am/en/ etc .2.What if i register a domain name which is trademark in some other country, but not in the country of domain. for example , https://www.microsoft.com/de-de etc etc. Is it legal Looking forward to hear from you.\
Hadi 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 Yes, it is allowed to register a 2 letter domain. And you can register a trademark in some other country, but in the country of domain. I think it is legal but it also depends on the server that will register this domain.
Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 I am pretty sure that you can buy a domain in another country that is a trademark in another as long as that company hasn't bought them all up. It would be illegal though to buy a domain like that and make a fake microsoft site out of it for your profit and scam people...then it would be illegal because you are scamming people and imitating something you are not. garbage 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 well i dont know of if its legal or not to do it especialy with big name companies.. just a few years back microsoft went to court against some kid named Mike Rowe because he started up a site called mikerowesoft and i believe it was a .com site, but either way they won in court and all becuase he added the soft at the end of hisdomainname, which i thought who cares. if you dont know the difference between microsoft or mikerowesoft well youve got issues, but i still think microsoft shouldnt have gotten away with it
