True, any hosted member can put a blog on his web site (I speak from experience, my blog got pretty much nowhere), but if it is intergrated with the forums, then more people will A) have a chance to make a blog, without the difficulties of maintaining their self-installed blog software (fancy English, I like it) read the blogs that members make, instead of people being forced to wait to see links in sigs.
