Well, she can visit her gynecologist regularly and check for cancer in the vagina, uterus... also, mammograms help detect tumours in the breasts. Your girlfriend should also learn to inspect her breasts herself and do that regularly. There are a couple of sites where she can get that kind of info. Basically, she has to go through the breast by quadrants trying to find lumps on it. A lump may be a tumour. but it may also be a mammary gland (which produces milk!)... so practice will help, of course. If your girlfriend's nipples eject some fluid and she's not breastfeeding there may also be a tumour, an infection, etc...Regular checkups are vital to good prevention and early detection!

A piece of advice: always refer to a doctor when in doubt about these kinds of things... don't take advice from forums when the matter is health! If you do decide to follow some advice found here, always check that with a real doctor first
