Dooga 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Hmm... I was browsing through google's robots.txt, and I found something really interesting!Disallow: /microsoft? Now why would Google have a directory called "microsoft"?
Tyssen 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Did you test it out? It's a Microsoft-specific search-engine: https://www.google.com/microsoft
fffanatics 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Wow that is really interesting. I never knew google had a microsoft specific search engine. If they have that, i think they so should have a linux specific search engine so that those of us minorities who use Linux at home would have a very easy place to search for help or just to try to find cool new software. That would be so wonderful but this isnt a perfect world

liauce 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 That is part of the demo page for the google sms service, part of the page displayed. What I'm keen to find out is, is google's https://www.google.com/microsoft or /linux really searching for help stuff on the respective items? because when I tried searching stuff like schools, or whatever it just produced results with schools related to microsoft. Some of the results are within microsoft's website and some are not. Nonetheless this is a very cool service with seemingly dedicated searches to a fixed catergory. Dooga 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 That's wierd, when I tried google.com/microsoft it returned a 404 error. I thought it was a secret plan to remove Microsoft or something... lol!
catfish 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 http://www.g00g13.com/ is the best imo. The best thing about google is unlike most other companies, they have a sense of humor. https://www.google.com/moon/ for instance. (zoom all the way in ) also they always change there logo to reflect the holidays/some famous anniversary to liven things up a bit. (not to mention last i checked their stock was going at 400ish a share)
T100 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2006 It seems to me that it is a site which specializes with searches about Microsoft. Somewhat like a news center that gathers all information people need about Microsoft. It is unofficial, in the sense that it is maintained by google, not Microsoft though, and so when bad news about Microsoft appear, the search engine may be the first search engine to spread them widely. I really like this design. We need a watchdog to closely look at Microsoft?s day to day operation and this site seems to be the first step.

Then again, it makes people laugh and attracts more viewers.
liauce 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2006 Haha, that was funny. Zoom all the way in and you get cheese. I think google does appeal to the hip and more modern or younger generation, which in fact are the people wasting their lives away on the internet... I think google has that special PR X factor to captivate us with its nonsense, brilliant features and candidness. Three Cheers For Google!
