Arigato 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 I find that these community sites are only good when you have friend on them. Alot of the content there is personal and it doesn't make much sense to read personal information about someone you don't know.
atomicnacho 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 I'm not a big fan of the community sites either. I used yahoo 360 for a while and ended up coming to Xisto because I wanted a blog with more flexibility. I didn't really have any friends that had set up pages so it really wasn't that great. Now I run wordpress and its great. I can do whatever I want and have total control.

rejected 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 I really like xanga.. Most of my friends have one.Yeah, it's more of a personal thing, but that's what I like about it. None of my friends have the knowledge to make a blog or a website, so this is their alternative. My xanga is http://xanga.com/
thebluekirby 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 Yes, I like xanga. But it's for people who are still learning with HTML and stuff. If you're a really graphic experianced person and uses xanga...people might look down on your knowledge of HTML =/The controls are easy and quite flexable, but if you want to have skins you have to get a paid version of xanga?! you can do stuff like that on livejournal.com for free! (even though you DO get to edit your headers and footers). I used xanga, but I never really updated it =/ i switched to livejournal.com because you have communities and stuff like that. My old xanga is dead so you can't view it. Sorry.
mykokology 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 I used to have a xanga blog. Actually, it is the very first blogging host that I signed up for. I had three accounts in it because I was very fickle back then (oops! I still am fickle) and eventually I ended up abandoning all three and switched hosts because I wanted more customizable layouts and Xanga does not provide that. Another thing that made me abandon it was The ads are annoying plus only xanga members get to comment on your blog which sucks. Another thing, I was also learning to use html so I wanted a really really customizable blog without ads. I signed up for http://members.diaryland.com/edit/ instead... Of course now I host my own blog, I use nucleus
Goofy 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 I love xanga, honestly . It's so customizable and all. There are tons of themes and scripts to choose from at http://blogring.net/. I suggest anyone with xanga to try it out. It's a great way to express yourself. I haven't really been with livejournal for that long but as far as I can tell it's not as quality-ish as xanga. Agree? Disagree? >_>

I used it for a little while... and well... laziness set in. The only reason I used it was because I had some friends that also used it. It's kinda pointless though... but it's a nice way to kill some time. I was kinda creeped out when random people started leaving comments and such. That's when I thought that I shouldn't be posting on this too often... Sheesh... It's fun to use once in a while if you have friends on it too, then you can exchange comments. However, once you realize the whole world can read it... then you might want to protect your privacy and talk to your friends in person.
Becca 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 First of all I actually thought that XANGA was only for asian people. But I guess not. I don't really like xanga because it mostly only allows signed up users to view others profiles or do anything. All blogging community blogs are customizable, I just don't see the difference in this one. I reckon they are all basically the same or at least similar in some way. I've never joined and I don't really want to at the moment. Maybe in the future or something.
Joshua 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I tried Xanga and didn't really like it. It's good as an information storing page but doesn't let you search for and find the people you know all that well. I use MySpace, which has over 50 million people on it. I know a lot of people who use it. Xanga just seems a lot less organized and structured as far as coming across people, and I'm not that crazy about the look of it either, looks too... impersonal. All the sites have the same polished look to them that doesn't really draw you into them like MySpace's. Just my opinion.
Skamikazi 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 I used to love xanga. Infact, I even paid for a year's subscription. But after I was half way through, I got bored of it. The features became lame and I really didn't feel like updating the journal. Plus, one of the main reasons why I paid for the subsciption was for the skins, which I later found out that people on free accounts could change. Also the 2gb picture gallery was cool until i found out about greatestjournal, which does the same exact thing but for free! The last issue I have with xanga is the fact that they still haven't added anon posting. They promised it 2 years ago and still haven't offered it. They basically force people to join just to leave their friends comments which is just a hassel. Moolkye 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 I like Xanga. At the time it had a lot of features. This was before MySpace though. But it still holds it's merritts. I do like the ease of customizing. And to tell you the truth, myspace, even though is very popular, is at times very hard to read with the whole transparent crap that they put on there.I choose not to use Xanga anymore though due to the fact that I have had 2 sites on there recently, that were both hacked, and shut down. And I got no help from the support team there. Downfall. So I refuse to use them now.
iwuvcookies 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Even though Myspace has bunch of problems like ahemmm...IM. I would still prefer it over it xanga. Xanga i tried for a whole year. It got really boring. Cause its like people you don't know can comment and they like flame your page or make rude remarks. I know i can delete them but having to read them is innerving. Then again most of my friends are on myspace. So i joined that and forgot xanga. I don't know most of the asians are like gangsta hoodlum wannabe. lol. well the ones i see. i'm so discriminatory. then they type weird. WadDUP muH HOmiZ wHad chA dOiIng. lol. matto 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I have a very interesting twist that occurs when comparing Xanga to Myspace. About half of my friends have Myspace, and the other half use Xanga. I have both, and use both, but I am much more active on xanga because it's simply a blog. You give comments to quality posts, not just random comments for no specific reason. It's more of a blog than Myspace, which is a whole popularity contest group of everyone.
