snlildude87 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 You can put downloads as long as you don't provide cracks or keygens to shareware. You also cannot put full versions of a software either. Putting the trial version is fine. Just make sure your downloads abide by Xisto TOS.
biscuitrat 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 No illegal things, no porn, no wares, no mp3's - it's all in the TOS. But if it's your software or you have the right to distribute it (as in the person who made it gave you permission somehow), then it's ok.If it's not yours, don't try to put it on your site without making contact with the creator first. If you're talking about files that you would normally have to pay for, that would constitute as an illegal thing.Just read the TOS, I guess.
Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 well i thought with the mp3 that if it was your own creation then it was ok or doesn't matter about that?but yeah as long as the downloads have nothing to do with what has been posted previously then you will be fine. moldboy 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 You also cannot put full versions of a software eitherCould you please explain that a little more? The way I understand it you can host anything you want, legal or ilegal, if it is ilegal however be prepaired to suffer the consquences, which in this case is having your hosting permantly removed (or worse). So if you wrote a program and wanted to host it, you can. If you have a garage band and want to host some of your music, you can. But beware of bandwidth consumption. icemarle 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Could you please explain that a little more? Well, if you wrote a program, it's OK. If it's shareware of trial, it's OK. Just as long as you know it isn't illegal (like WAREZ or commercial MP3s) You'll be fine. No licensed things (things you usually pay for). Just keep this in mind, if you're supposed to pay for it, DON'T PUT IT FOR DOWNLOAD.
Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Since there is terms of service already in place if you have read them you will probably know what things are not allowed in your site, whether for download or for any other content of your site. The best and easiest way to solve your problem will be to tell us what things are you trying to put in the download section? You'd better to mention those here and let mods and admins guide you otherwise if you just put up illegal stuffs in your site you will land in trouble. snlildude87 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Could you please explain that a little more? 191760[/snapback] Some .exe files have two versions: a trial one and a full one. Take limewire for instance. You can download the trial one on their site. You can get the full .exe file only if you pay for it. Once you have the full .exe file, then you can distribute that all over the internet. Doing that would be illegal. The case is completely different if you wrote the program yourself. Since you wrote it, you have full copyrights to it, so you could do whatever you want to it.
