Build A Computer How to build your computer from scratch

Recommended Posts

How about the price tag for someone looking to build their own computer? I know it would vary, but what about the essentials? How much would the descent essential parts cost?I've thought in passing the idea of building my own computer, but I've always overlooked the fact that I can buy one already assembelled, requiring limited effort from me :P. But if the price is right, and the savings are substantial, I would definitely try to build my own. I just don't know the cost differential and never tried to figure it out (for one I don't know the quality difference between brands)...

I guess floppy drives are quite useful in countries like mine (Mexico). The thing is that we still have the same old PCs at work, school and home.I also guess that you have to think what exactly you're gonna use your PC for. This is for making a global examination of what exactly you're gonna need for that. For example, if you want to use the PC only for checkin emails purpouses, then you do not need that much RAM, but if you think of making some web and graphic design and video edition, then you'll need more and more RAM...Cheers!! :P

well i kno i've built nice computers...like my computers have been able to handle doom, and i use for my major gaming and video editing. And i only payed about 870$ for. I'm also a bargain hunter, but if u look well enough im sure u can find the essentials to build sumthin extreme without hitting the extremes

. . . i cant wait to build it. i only need cash.. hopefully i can build some for a friend or family member first to make some money

i copy/pasted you guide right under the txt file where i keep my components for the comp.

Thanks again

P.s. the system is ment to be good things where i need it. i do alot of video conversion.. almost 24/7 threre is a video converting on a computer for some1. so i need a strong processor and HD.. i have no intentions of playing games on it yet.. thats why there is a scrap video card.. i can always upgrade..

the 2 first upgrades i would make to this system is a 6.1 surround sound and a 256 meg video card. because i do have intentions of playing video games.. but not at this current moment in time

flushingcomic:I saw you would buy a 754 socket. I strongly recomend to buy a 939 socket. 754 Socket processors and mobo's are very cheap now, I agree whit that. But over 8 months, the product will not be available anymore, so there are no upgrade options for you, when you choose 754. With 939, you can upgrade for the upcomming years, and you have the ability of PCI-E. (2 videocards in one pc. ) Maeby you don't need this, but I think with socket 754, you cannot upgrade in the future.
