Remote Computer Access i need to know how to do this

Recommended Posts

Can I smell something devious and malicious here? Programs, hmm...well the company the supports our Networking program uses this remote program to troubleshoot and fix problems on networks there upkeeping. So they can do it all from their office downtown. I don't really see the point other than this ^.

Lyon2 wrote a topic about The Best Free Remote Control Software http://forums.xisto.com/topic/26231-the-best-free-remote-control-software-for-remote-control-of-a-computer/

The program allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to control the other PC remotely, like if you were in front of that computor, wich can be very, very usefull for network admins of a small or big network of computers.

UltraVNC features are:

FileTransfer, Video Driver, Encryption Plugins, MS Logon, high performances over all kinds of connections, Viewer Toolbar, JavaViewer with FileTransfer, autoscaling and serverside scaling, Multiple Monitors support, Repeater/proxy support, good Security and Text Chat.

UltraVNC also has this addons: Repeater, SingleClick packager and Nat to Nat connector, that help you to handle complex connection situations.

UltraVNC runs under Windows operating systems (95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003).

And has many more functions, usefull for any network admin.

I use remote connection by microsoft in winXP. For this method on "remote PC" must be enabled such feature like "Allow remote connections" in system parameters. And U must run "Start->Progs->Accessories->Net->Remote Connection Wizard", type IP or name of remote PC and click OK!And ofcourse, always search Yahoo!, Gooogle, and other search engines...

I guess he will go crazy reading all the posts since there are many alternatives to remote accessing a computer. Anyway I'll summarise them..

Symantec pcAnywhere™

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection software

  Website : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

RealVNC - Freeware

  Website : https://www.realvnc.com/

TightVNC - Freeware

UltraVNC - Freeware

More Information About VNC

These are the common remote computing software. There are many others where you can find them on search engines. However they may lack of support and documentations that you can seek help to.

I have seen RealVNC before, and I can say that it's quite slim. If you want decent web based remote control, try LogMeIn (https://secure.logmein.com/home). Getting Windows desktop sharing to work is a pain, so if you go with that or any VNC variation, sign up for DynDNS or No-IP so that you don't have to memorize your IP address, which changes frequently anyway (unless you have a dedicated static IP on like a T1 or something).
